Me too

Re: Eating milk and fish..

It’s in TIb e Nabawi ( the holy prophet’s healing) and so as Muslims we were told not to mix the two. It also forbidden according to Jewish scriptures as well. I try not to mix them for religious reasons.

^Could you post a reference please. I would love to learn.

Re: Eating milk and fish..

Me too. But then again I never ate fish anyway

Re: Eating milk and fish..

The Prophet forbade eating the mixing the following food items together at the same meal: milk and fish, or vinegar and milk, or fruit and milk, or lettuce and fish. Abi Bakr (2003), also mention on how Prophet will avoid two types of food that have the same condition for example “two hot dishes, or two colds dishes, two sticky dishes, two constipating dishes, two laxative dishes, two heavy dishes, two liquid foods” also he will avoid eating two food that will result to two opposite effect, such as constipating and diarrhea, or easily digested with heavy foods.

Truly) Over-indulgence of food causes various kinds of diseases. (Ghurarul-Hikam - Page 359)

For instance, the Prophet (S) only drank water half-hour before and after his meals, and never during meals. It is also reported in authentic traditions that he never combined certain foods and kept his intake to a minimum. He did not eat fish and yogurt together, or drink milk with fish, and he did not eat anything sour with it or immediately after it. He never mixed in the same meal two hot foods or two cold foods.

I think its more of a sunnah than a hadith.

Under Jewish dietary laws, fish is considered parve, or neutral. It can be consumed with either dairy or meat. (For instance, lox and cream cheese is a staple of Jewish delis/menus).

Kosher rules prohibit eating meat and dairy together as according to Scripture, it’s unlawful to boil the goat in the milk of its mother.

No fruit and milk? Wat about fruit milk shakes? That’s pretty widely consumed no?

Re: Eating milk and fish..

There are certain Sephradic and Chassidic jewish communities who don’t mix diary and fish together.

Re: Eating milk and fish..

I do believe there is some reference present in Sahih bukhari about fish and milk. But it’s a well known fact as per sunnah that Prophet SAW used to take special care while mixing food.

In this particular case, I have heard that it may not cause issues for majority people, but there are certain health conditions if they are already present in the body in a benign manner, they can get aggravated for example if the fish has high mercury etc ..

Also i read somewhere that its down to the digestive breakdown of food. Mixing two proteins that have a different time of digestive breakdown can cause some health issues. For example, Fish breaks down earlier in a digestive cycle, eggs a bit later and milk breaks down at the very end. That can confuse the digestive acids and get heavy on the system.
