Earlier this year at bakr eid we drove down to Oakville to a farmhouse to hand pick an animal and get it zibaah'd. It involved a 5 minute humans and goats chase and then standing in line with the goat's horns in my hands; for an hour and 20 minutes; in temperatures just shy of 15 below zero.
During that one hour and 20 minutes i got to know the poor soul personally. Lots of similar thoughts went through my mind. Like for instance i'd be having him for dinner.
Plus i also saw this female goat with a her lil kid sitting in the corner without anyone disturbing them. The lil memna was so damn cute. But he too will grow up someday and be zibaah'd. All of a sudden 'Bakray ki Maa Kab Tak Khair Manaaiy Gee' made a lot of sense now.

Damn you.. u sick fella :-p
I really don't have any mercy for my food too. I have seen the zabah process many times. And doesn't make me turn away from the meat. I just cannot eat beef( I find it gross). But chicken, lamb and goat are all fine.

Are you Muslim or Hindu?
My Gujarati friends told me that they like a bit of beef at Eid ul-Adha because it tastes better than other meats but they have to be very discreet when slaughtering the animal and distributing the meat amongst relatives and friends because if the Hindus find out the person slaughtering the animal and his family are in deep s-h-i-t from the Hindu extremists who can even kill them, Is that true? It’s sad how India claims to be a secular country yet can’t assure that it’s people have the freedom to choose their own diet.
Then again there are other Muslims who have been so influenced by Hinduism that they consider beef haraam.

Why should every post from you have an anti-India rant to it.
India being a secular country everybody has the freedom to choose their own diet. Please read your own post carefully. It is not the government that is stopping the people from eating. "Hindu extremists"
Can you imagine a reversal of roles....
My muslim friends of Pakistan told me that they like a bit of pork.
I dont want to go into the details about what happens next...
For your information am a Catholic and have the freedom to eat both pork and beef in India.

I never said it’s the government who has made it illegal what I said is it can’t assure it’s people the freedom to choose their own diet, they talk about us Pakistanis being extremists but look at their own people.
As far as Pakistani Muslims not being allowed pork, obviously they are not but we never claimed to be ‘secular’ or ‘free’ and actually the dhimmi’s in our country are allowed to eat and drink anything from pork, alcohol to their own urine as long as they don’t do it in front of us as to gross us out.
We don’t eat pork cuz it’s ‘dirty’ not cuz we consider it sacred or nowt.
irem baji…the chickens running away from the hand is more like a reflex action…even if u playfully put your hand in a chicken’s cage they tend to run about…
and the theory that the animals being slaughtered see knives the night before and cry has no basis what so ever…and they do not wail the whole night…qurbani kay janwar - goats wail ONLY when they are scared or alone…cows wail only when they see or “smell” another cow passing by…don’t know about camels…
when Allah has ordered humans NOT to love this world…then why would he make animals cry when they are being slaughtered in the name of Allah…
the actual process of zibahing…done it…nearly always been a part of it on bakra eid…and also did it in front of my cousins in LA…all cousins were horrified…and staring at me as i had committed some major sin …
and regarding becoming a vegeterian…in Islam it is clearly stated not to make something halal..haram onto yourself…(Anwaar..reference plz:flower1:…)
on the other hand…in my family we don’t let young children witness the process of slaughtering…and i also think they shouldn’t…
