Eating late into the night ...

… are you more prone to put on weight if you do this?

I remember when I used to work at Marks N Sparks I used to do loads of late night shifts, where I wouldn’t get home till after 11pm, so I used to eat my roti and stuff dead late … way past midnight if I remember correctly. By the time I’d reduced my hours to go back to uni, I’d become a right fat bloater.

Recently, I’ve been going to sleep quite early and so I usually eat my last meal around 6.30/7. I’ve noticed the weight seems to be dropping off with this change in eating habits, even though I’m still eating like a pig.

Never thought eating late at night had that much of an influence in weight gain, but I’m starting to change my mind.

ok luv i will make this quck as i have to revise...... when u eat u have excess calories in ur body. wat happens is if u go to sleep after eating ur motabolism drops so u r not burning enough energy u would if u had eaten some time b4 sleeping so that gives ur matabolism to burn more calories.

Yes last morsel of food should go in you at no later than 7.00 pm. After that if u must eat have something extremely light or most preferably just drink water or low fat milk or something.

The time at which you eat doesn't really matter, as long as you allow your body about 1.5 - 2 hours of digestion time before going to sleep. So even if you eat at 11 pm, but don't sleep till 2 am, you'd be doing just fine similar to eating at 7 pm and sleeping at 10 pm.

Ofcourse, what you eat and how much you eat remain the most critical factors.

So I’m not the first person to ‘invent’ this diet fad? :bummer: and so the dream of becoming a billionnaire is put on hold yet again … oh well.

I always have a hard time digesting if I eat later than 9 pm. I always try to have my dinner before 9-9:30 otherwise it just sits there and I've also heard that it does make you put on weight cuz you are not moving around much. If you eat at midnight, you tend to either sit and watch tv or go to bed.
