Eating French------

Hi!

We all eat cheese a lot. We all know, the best cheese is from France. I am now thinking is it made from halal milk or----what is the status of this cheese in our religion, islam.

I dont think there is concept of halal cheese. I had asked a similar question regarding dietary laws and mixing dairy with meat (the jewish laws prohibit that); In quran it states "eat whatis presceibed tothe people of the book". The answer I got was that Isalm is very linenient in enforcing that law (I guess since all muslims eat yogurt with there meals). So keep on eating that french brie.

Cheese, I like cheese, Desi cheese not French and it’s never Halal, how can you have Halal cheese?

:bhangra:
:snooty:

Re: Eating French------

"cheese"? Why do you think cheese itself might be objectionable? :)

If it doesn't have any haram ingredients, it is perfectly fine. However, I have that there are some cheese makers in the West who put haram ingredients in it.

I’m hearing the concept of halaal milk for the first time.

Here’s a good fatwa that’s worth reading:

Meat from dubious restaurants

in matters of food every thing is halaal unless declared haram by sharia.

wallah o alam

All food was lawful to the Children of Israel, except what Israel made unlawful for himself before the Taurât (Torah) was revealed. Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Bring here the Taurât (Torah) and recite it, if you are truthful." (Aali Imran 3:93)

O mankind! eat of that which is lawful and good on the earth, and follow not the footsteps of Shaitân (Satan). Verily, he is to you an open enemy. (Al-Baqarah 2:168)

O you who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism)! eat of the lawful things that We have provided you with, and be grateful to Allâh, if it is indeed He Whom you worship. (Al-Baqarah 2:172)

Oh we're talking about dairy products..

As far as i knw…

All types of cheese contain animal rennet >>>

“Records for the making of rennet go back to the 16th century. The farmer or small-holder cheesemaker would select and slaughter a milk-fed calf, remove and wash the fourth stomach carefully.
He would then hang this out to air-dry in which case it would become known as a ‘vell’.
It is most likely that dried pieces of vells were added directly to the milk made to use the cheese, and at later times vell extracts in salt solution were used.”
