[FONT=Bookman Old Style]Mr. Ardeshir Cowasjee in his column “Los Desaparceidos of Pakistan“ talking about different dictators of the world described how people in their rule were not only murdered but also disappeared. He then comes to Pakistan where 41 people in same mysterious circumstances long about whom no intelligence agency including Police/FIA is aware of. The authoritative columnist then informs how in the Supreme Court a Colonel representing Ministry of Interior a week back appeared proudly informing the court that 20 people have been found and “sent home”. He further submitted that the government has no knowledge of remaining 21 hence the case may be filed on which the S.C Chief Justice became angry. No one in fact is ever serious in such matters including, if I am apologized, the worth columnist and Supreme Court. I am not a scholar but one from common masses and being a clerk have very limited “wisdom” in my skull. My wisdom pinches me if we really want to know the true circumstances of such disappearances and stop this then why not we call those 20 who “came home” in the Court. The court may arrange their appearance with full families and their stay within the court for two three days under security. These 20 “came home” may be ensured encourage to speak who took them, where they were kept and who “delivered them home” and who provided transport for this come back. These twenty may not be asked to come to the Court alone leaving their families back home otherwise their statements would those which we see in Hindi films. Not only very easily the remaining twenty one will bre “sent home” but Supreme Court will also save its writ and respect where today functionaries come and submit day light lies on Oath. The same day the column appeared a letter appeared from a citizen saying do we today really need to maintain an army. The answer is very simple. In a country where an army men themselves are not safe while taking morning drill within the army camp and where a heavy escorted DIG gets murdered there is no need of keeping any army or police. We believe foreign investors can develop Pakistan much better, then why not privatize army and police to some foreign bidder. It is time we open eyes and face realities. Our enlightened President can day and night at any odd hour ring to any ruler of the world including President Bush yet we cannot keep our previous stage of our nuclear facility. Mohan Sing who cannot ring any ruler at odd hour gets his nuclear development agreement signed with Mr. Bush. Our rulers, their minions all have constructed good homes in USA, Canada and Australia. One day all of them will go there leaving us in what shape it only God knows.
