Thanks for sharing website on East Pakistan. It would definitely help in understanding what happened in 1971 why majority of Pakistanis left Pakistan and made a new country.
You have to realize that Yahya Khan did the excellent job by holding impartial and mostly fair elections in 1971. Awami League came as winning party. Instead of handing over power to Awami League, Yahya Khan started military action which was absolutely un called for. Result. Breakup of Pakistan, humiliation to whole nation.
