Re: Earthquake in Pakistan/International Relief (merged threads)
sigh i hope so. But i dread that it might be true .. yesterday Dr. shahid masood was saying in his report that only Balakot and couple of its surrounding places are estimated to have more than 35,000-40,000 deaths.
i don't even know what and what not to pray for any more.
Re: Earthquake in Pakistan/International Relief (merged threads)
Wohi aayain gay help ke liye and our mullahs will carry out appeals not to accept the help. Ridiculous.
Re: Earthquake in Pakistan/International Relief (merged threads)
don’t worry about the politics of it all right now
focus instead on what can you do to help-even if your help is just prayer

Five children pulled from the rubbles alive after 4 days.
The discovery of children like Sultan gives the town of Balakot hope
Five children have been pulled out alive by a specialist French rescue team from the rubble of a school in one of Pakistan’s worst quake-hit towns.
The team of French military engineers worked through Monday night on the collapsed remains of one of the schools in the town of Balakot.
There were thought to be at least 100 children inside the school when the earthquake struck on Saturday morning.
It brought the huge concrete roof straight down on top of the pupils.
But in the early hours of Tuesday, using sniffer dogs and special cameras, the French team found four boys and one girl alive.
They are now being treated for their injuries, most of them minor.
It was a spark of hope in a town where, for the most part, it is bodies that are being pulled from the ruins.
Also check the video reports of people being rescued, including the two year old child called Ibrahim.
Re: Earthquake in Pakistan/International Relief (merged threads)
It has been reported that Pakistan army saved about **500 **people from under the rubble in NWFP. Alhamdolillah. More jawans have been dispatched to the devestated areas today.

Depressing: How Events are outpacing actions
The scale of the earthquake seems to have overtaken all initial aid efforts...outside the primary disaster zone..in the peripheral areas of Battagram, Kohistan and Shangla as well as deeper in AJK..there has been almost no direct aid received, the bulk of the efforts have been volunteer driven. While people in the comparatively unaffected areas that I have spoken to have suddenly realised that their own houses have suffered fairly severe structural damage (and are now living out in the open while the temperature drops every day) and that there has been no news from friends living in more isolated areas higher up..
While the aid effort should reach soon, sadly in these kind of natrual disasters, even a day is effectively a death sentence.
more after shocks..
just heard on Geo...more after shocks in islamabad and lahore..
also they saying buildings that were cracks on OCT 8 earthquake are damged more..
Re: more after shocks..
Any updates on damage done?
Re: more after shocks..
they are saying its not severe and no damage..but one thing is scary is those damaged buildings..
Re: more after shocks..
They were not that bad. I stayed in my room...... , Its just the earth crust settling down, a 7.6 , that even a shallow earthquake( less then 10 kilometers under the earth surface) will produce its after effects (although when the main earthquake hit I was the first person out of the house in my garden).

Re: more after shocks..
I slept after 3 days only to wake up last night at 1:30 with a jolt. I have heard that it lasted for some 20 secs or so. Allah reham karay.
Re: Earthquake in Pakistan/International Relief (merged threads)
does anyone have the latest stats? like how many estimated dead, injured, homeless, etc?
