First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day events in more than 193 countries are now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.

At an estimated 4.543 billion years of age, the Earth is still the only known object in the Universe known to harbor life. It’s also the densest planet in the Solar System and the largest of the four terrestrial planets.

Earth Day was founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson on April 22, 1970.

20 million people participated in the first Earth Day.

More than 100 billion pieces of junk mail are delivered in the United States each year.

Every year on April 22, men, women, and children collect garbage, plant trees, clean up coral reefs, show movies, sign petitions, and plan for a better future for our planet.

I’m so excited for Earth Day today! I was able to participate in our community’s clean up event and we planted some trees and native plants.
I hope everyone had an awesome Earth Day. :slight_smile:

I used to work for a very energy conscientious corporation and sold a net zero project where the homes were super insulated and had 40 solar panels and produced all the energy they needed. That was such an awesome project and makes me feel proud to be a part of it. We have socialist provincial govt and they are doing good things for the environment. New homes are mandated to be more energy efficient. Homes will also need more trees. There needs to be more vertical growth.

Many of the effects of climate change are irreversible. Sea levels have been rising at a greater rate year after year, and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change estimates they could rise by another meter or more by the end of this century.
As National Geographic showed us in 2013, sea levels would rise by 216 feet if all the land ice on the planet were to melt. This would dramatically reshape the continents and drown many of the world’s major cities.

With new US govt pulling back everything from environmental safety and actually taking steps to damage it more, there is a far more responsibility on everyone to save this planet and work as much as possible to make it better. Time to be less selfish and work hard on creating a better world.

The earth is the beautiful planet created by God and it is the human who destroyed the beauty of this motherland. As greenhouse gasses and pollution is the biggest problem of the world and if you want to save the planet then the world should be united on one point that will be safe earth is the guaranty of safe life.
