recently we got the ears of my 3 year old daughter pierced in pakistan, so a week later we took out the artifical tops and replaced them with small gold ones, but I was wondering what is good for kids, gold, silver, or artifical ones, so that she doesnt get any ear infections, so far it has not healed properly but its not infected also??

I always thought that when you get ears pierced, you should always have the inital jewellery as gold or stainless steel, not artificial?? Especially in young children, so as to avoid risks of allergic reactions...
Also, you shouldn't remove the initial jewellery for at least 6-8 weeks to avoid the ears from becoming infected.

Well the person who pierced said, we can remove the initial tops after 2 days and replace it with silver ones, we did so after one week with small gold ones as the first ones were quite dirty from dust from pakistan, we did the piercing the day of our flight back.
so some say gold ones, some say silver, when i mean artificial I mean sterling silver types of jewellery.

Saadia, I had both daughters ears pierced at age 15 months. After the initial few months of not changing what was put on them (14 karat birthstone earrings from Claires), I switched over to pure gold (22 karat) for about 6 months. After that, I bought this surgical steel back earrings for sensitive skin and they've been wearing these ever since. I have a bunch of them so I keep changing. The only reason I didn't keep the real gold stuff on it because a couple of times, they fell off even though they had a locking system, and now that they go to school, I didn't want them to be bothered by that.

Thank you, the gold earring she has, has to be screwed in, so far the ear is looking good and the earring hasn’t gotten loose or anything.
But I am thinking of getting different patterns or colours after the time, the ear has healed 100%.
I tell u, its so fun to have a girl and now she is starting jewellery and soon before I know it it will be makup and facials …
