I got my daughter’s ears pierced about two weeks ago when she turned three months. I was so excited to do it because I think it looks adorable on babies. My daughter cried for all of five seconds, and then was fine. Most Pakistanis, Arabs and Italians do this aswell, but I was suprised by how some people reacted.. thinking that it was cruel to do this to a baby. Anyone else have any strange reactions?

last time we went to pak ....my mother n MIL wanted her ears pierced.....i just couldn't agree
yes it looks cute ....but i'm not that brave ....what if she starts pulling it ....eek...no i'll wait till she's at least 3....inshaAllah!

Well, i got mine pierced for my 15th birthday...my Mom brought me to the jeweler and that was my gift. It didnt hurt but when I went to their mirror afterwards to see, I fell over like a wooden soldier in a dead faint! The poor girl who pierced my ears thought she killed me!! lol, it was QUITE the scene!!
...best to have it done before they're old enough to be afraid )

I got mine pierced when I was six months old, and again when I was three cause I pulled them off and the earring hole closed. When I was three, it was much worse. Three people had to hold me down while I screamed and tried to escape. It's fondly recalled by my parents and the salon owner (back when we lived in England). I don't think there is anything wrong with piercing when they are babies. If anything, babies seem to be able to handle it a lot better than some grownups.

...the earrings they use for babies are so very small that babies dont usually find them interesting enough to pull on and play with, they need bigger things for their little hands to grasp....
if i had been blessed with a little girl, my goodness, the jewelry, frills and fluffs that i'd be consumed with lol!

Ouch i personally didn't pierce my daughters' ears. I'm going to wait until they're old enough to ask me to have it done. It should be their own decision. Right now it seems like I would get them pierced because I like it, not them liking it.

apparantly they cant feel it, My friend took her 6 month old daughter to sapin..dressed her in pink frocks but was continuously asked whether the child was a boy or girl
and tehy kept pointing out that they couldnt tell because it didnt have its ears pierced
they thought it might be a boy in a pink dress.

my daughter cried for all of five seconds and was then fine... i understand what some are saying about choice, but seriously, about 99% of girls get their ears pierced, so why not do it early when they won't remember the experience.. its also really easy for me to take care of her ears right now while she isn't running away... anyway, she always has the choice not to wear earrings later
