Ear Candles...

are SOOOOO relaxing…good for stressed people

its a tube of hard cotton type stuff and you get someone to hold it against your ear and set the top alight…

the smoke goes down into your ear and the idea is that it relaxes you…its lovely

and some types help ear infections too.

try it

you can get them from holland and barret or the internet

they do a similar type treatment in paks, and red injuns have been doing it for centuries so it appears to be relatively harmless…unless your hair catches alight!

Re: Ear Candles…

destructive title :nono:

Re: Ear Candles...

thats what they are called

Ear candles

google it

Re: Ear Candles…

I thought the title referred to candles made from ear wax…:yukh:

Re: Ear Candles...

yea...this lady does it for my sister here and there! sounds interesting

Re: Ear Candles...

where are they available?

Re: Ear Candles…

Lazy I was talking about this in SarahSplendour’s thread on ear problems … I’m getting it done soon. I can’t wait. :hula:

Re: Ear Candles...

bump ...

I had ear candling done by my friend this past Sunday. It felt weird, but in a good way.

Basically, she placed the pointy end of a candle inside my ear. The candle is all hollow from the inside and the top is lit with a flame and the candle melts while the flame heats and absorbs wax from way down, inside your ears. She needed to keep trimming the candle from the top until it was nearly finished. At the end, she opened up the candle and showed me all the wax inside. It was gross, but my head felt a lot lighter afterwards. Getting it done is a bit scary at first but ultimately, it was quite relaxing.

Re: Ear Candles...

i've seen this before too. i thought the main purpose of it was to remove ear wax

Re: Ear Candles...

hmm interesting! do they do ear crackers???

Re: Ear Candles…

I havent heard of this type…the ones I used were a relaxation therapy

I love the way you say your “head felt lighter” was it due to the amount of wax removed?:stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Ear Candles...

i dont have ear candles...though do have ear wax...

Re: Ear Candles…

I came across these yesterday in a chinese herbal shop …the lady talked to me about it for at least two minutes

IN CHINESE… I mmmm’d and smiled… and then a translater came along and told me all again in English.
anyway they looked like icecream cones…

My Red Indians ones looked long and thin like pencils

I think there is a whole secret world of Ear candles out there.

Still have no info about the type for ear infections:(

Re: Ear Candles…

is it safe though? I’ve heard that too much ear candling isn’t good for ya?

Re: Ear Candles...

You are supposed to do it once every six months or even once a year. Anything more than that isn't good for you.

LD, the candles they used on me are like the one you just described.

Re: Ear Candles…

so u’re saying i am a step behind u in the evolutionary ladder? i still use Q-tips.

Re: Ear Candles...

Q-tips actually serve to shove more wax back into your ear than they manage to extricate.. which is kinda impossible the way they're supposed to operate anyway..

Best is to get it cleaned at the doctors.. they give you these drops to pour in your ears for a few days before the cleaning and then have a suction thingamajimmi that just sucks all crap outta your ears leaving you light headed like u've just read a bunch of posts in Religion by the a$$wipes that frequent it these days.

Re: Ear Candles...

mehnaz where'd you get the candles from?

can you do the candling by yourself or do you need someone to do it for ya??

Re: Ear Candles…

:hehe:

Re: Ear Candles...

Hinna, my friend did it for me. She's an aesthetician (sp?) and works out of her home in Brampton. I can give you her number if you want it. :)
