What do you think about only sending wedding invites via email? Do you think it’s a great way of inviting people and will safe both money and time or a does the idea just sounds cheap to you! Share your thought! ![]()
Re: E-wedding invites
It depends on the type of guest list you have. I think it is a brilliant concept as I am all for being green and saving paper wherever possible. Traditional and possibly elderly people might think otherwise though.
I love paper invites. They can be nice momentos of the day.
Re: E-wedding invites
Honestly, my personal opinion, your idea is brilliant but noone would take it seriously. unless you send e-cards, and make personal phone calls to each of the guest. I just think desi's are so open to these kinds of ideas. :( we love waisting paper, sad truth
Re: E-wedding invites
I was invited to a friend's wedding once via a facebook event. For various reasons, the wedding had to be organised in a v short amount of time and I guess it was easiest to invite the girl's friends in this manner - save costs, and us girls are hardly going to mind or make a fuss about it. I don't know how they invited the other guests.
Personally I dislike it. It's unclassy and a little too informal for my liking!
Re: E-wedding invites
well all my family did this : invited the families who lived in their country by card and the rest got scanned copies of the wedding card .However a few cards were mailed by post to the elders in the family ,just as a sign of respect. Most people throw away the cards , i think it's only the bride and groom that keep it as a momento. I mean it gets phone numberrs etc etc writen all over it and then the bin , so spend less on them!
At the end of the day though it's upto u & how u think ur (extended ) family will take it.
Re: E-wedding invites
One of my friends did it, and I didn’t mind, but I would not do it myself. I love paper and stationary and prints and fonts and such too much. ![]()
Re: E-wedding invites
^ same here = love of paper/stationery/fonts/design/good printing.
i also find email invites kind of abrupt and way too informal and more suited to bridal showers than weddings. it seems to border on rude too- like, we couldn't be bothered to send you an actual invite, so here's an email.
but thats just me.
Re: E-wedding invites
I think it's a really great idea Miea - I also like save the date cards :)
I find most people throw away the invitations or find them building up - e-invites are fun, interactive, cheap and hassle free. It is more likely they will rsvp too! (Or you can force them to hahaha) x
Re: E-wedding invites
for my wedding Im going to send out e- invites 3 months before to those living abroad just so they can arrange to come on time and just plain invites to those in pakistan
Re: E-wedding invites

lol funny enough my mom actually suggested it
Re: E-wedding invites
^You're lucky.. if mine was ok with it I'd defo go for it :)
When my brother and SIL were tying the knot some of her relatives actually refused to come as their invites hadn't been hand delivered, how messed up is that?
Re: E-wedding invites
I don't know what i actually think about the idea! My mom thought that we should send out e-invited since we'll come to pakistan 2 weeks before the shaddi! I'm actually scared that some will get offended..
also, my cousin in canada told me whenever someone send out e-invites, they get less money/gifts as they think it'll be a cheap event and therefore give gifts of that sort :P

well, are you inviting people for the gifts they're going to give you, or because you want them to be at your wedding because they're family and friends of yours?

Though most people wouldn't consciously think this way, it may subconsciously affect how much they decide to give.
