DVD Recorder Vs. Computer DVD Burner

Why would one buy an expensive DVD Recorder when you can get DVD Burner for your PC for less than $50?

Can you think of any good reason? My External DVD Burner died and I am debating if I should get a DVD Recorder for my entertainment center or should I get a new DVD burner for my computer? Btw, I already have a good DVD Player.

Re: DVD Recorder Vs. Computer DVD Burner

It looks cool in your TV cabinet. Its nice and shiny, other than that not many reasons.

Re: DVD Recorder Vs. Computer DVD Burner

^ come one now, there must be some good reasons...

for a DVD Recorder, you can record live tv. but wait, I did that when I had a tv tuner card in my old pc. forget it may be there aren't any good reasons.

hmm lets see... how about using DVD burner in the computer to record DVDs for software/data storage? Can you do what with DVD recorders in your cabinet? So maybe buying a DVD burner for the computer is a smarter choice.

Asif it is a matter of convenience and ease of use without having to worry about gadgets like TV tuner, All-in-On Graphic Card, HDD space, special authoring software and Line-In control. The biggest advantage of DVD-VR is; similar to VCR functionality and the quality plus length of video it can record as compared to HDD or conventional VCR

Re: DVD Recorder Vs. Computer DVD Burner

Another advantage is copying VHS tapes to dvd in one shot. You can't understand how convenient it is when u can put in an old VHS-C cartridge and hit record.

I am pretty unhappy with my Panasonic E-55 dvd recorder. So many times after recording I get the message Finalisation failed, I have 20 coasters I don't know ehat to do with. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
