ok i bought this rewritable dvd for my laptop…unfortunatey my laptop only supports dvd (just to play) and cd-rw…which means i can write a normal cd but for dvds i can only play them…so is there anyway through which i can use dvd-rw too without getting the hardware part for it? may be i can use cd-rw to write on my dvd-rw???

As far as I know You can't burn to DVD discs with a CD burner. The lasers are just different. In order to do that, and to make a "true" copy of a DVD, you need a DVD burner.

I second what Mirch said. It's a different hardware altogether. CD-RW cannot burn a DVD; however, a DVD Burner can do both DVDs and CDs. They're inexpensive and you should be able to purchase one, it's a worthy investment.
