you dont beat the sofas or wood & make the dust wind its way on where it was not before! instead, take a wash cloth and wipe clean the dust.

I use a vacuum cleaner to clean sofa or wood it will send the dust to where it belongs : to the dust collector/dust bag in the vacuum cleaner and finally to a landfill .
I never tried what Dushi jee has mentioned here I would try that too to save on energy bill and also it seems like green cleaning.
