HI EVERY1 out there!!! i am new 2 all dis just discovered this gupshup place a few days ago, quite confused with how it works but il get used 2 it. Iv just got engaged recently and im getting marrid in march…
Problem is for a few months now id seen a gorgus kapra/cloth that i fell in love with..i baught it a week ago and now i want 2 wear in on my mehndi. my family think its a good idea but i dont no how ppl in karachi will react for surprise it isnt yellow!!!
the duppata is absalutly gorgus, nice big border kundan hand work on it and the colours are blue, lime green and hot pink.. the dress is all blue with embroidery on the daaman and sleeves and paanche, i wana make it in2 a sharara.plz can sumbody either tell me2 go 4 it or advise me on wot 2 do… im very confused.
another thing is i saw meeras brothers mehndi clip on nadia khan show n the bride was wearing a jhoomar n hair down with duppata on head, she looked gorgus n i would like2 do the same, wot do u think? will jhoomar look nice on its own or do i have2 wear a tikka? i dont wana wear a tikka for ill look like a complete bride then on my mehndi…
PLEASE all you clever and nice ppl out there, plz help me out. i dont evan now how this is going 2 work but lets c.

No i dont think it has to be yellow it depends on you r family and traditions i guess. but the fashion has changed people tend to wear yellow with a whole laod of other colours of just wear another colour. so it is reallu upto u .

again with letting the hair down and jhoomar thing you can do that , but again depends on your family and tradition. in my family i dont think they would approve of me letting my hair down it would have to be tied and i would have to wear a dupatta on my head.

good on the mehndi day bcoz thats the tradition my family does

i think tika is better no jhoomar

my sister wore a necklace set with earings matching to her dress thats it

no tika or jhoomar

Well yellow is very traditional color..yellow with turqoise or green or red or pink or purple or any other multi...yellow and turqoise/aqua/blue is the trendiest combo as of right now.. but if you dont' want that, u can wear hte outfit you got.. OR you can save it for your jahez if you want to.. i don't think ppl in khi will be shocked or anything, and I think that color combo would look nice, it'd be very refreshing and nice change

it's totally fine to wear something other than yellow. actually i think because we're abroad many of us cling to the more traditional stuff out of nostalgia. over in pakistan the styles are constantly changing and people try all sorts of different fashions and colors.

You should absolutely go with the blue outfit.
Yellow is the traditional color for mehndi but if
I were you and wanted to wear another color then
I wouldn't care what the family/people thought.

It's your wedding and you should be able to pick
the colors that you want.

no it doesnt have to be yellow…my sisters planning to wear a real nice baby pink looong dress from Moonsoon…with silver embroidery round the neckline and sleeves…dats…soooo simple and elegant…:love:

it dusnt really hafto be yellow the trends r changing it just hafto have the cultural and mehndi look so dont worry abt tht and abt jhoomar i wouldnt go with it on mehendi as that would look very heavy and bridal try to keep it simple on mehendi flower jewlery or a tika would be a better option and keeping ur hair open wouldnt look tht good either that is with sharara a paranda or a braid would look better

correction, Yellow is the tradtional color for Mayoon
For Mehndi its Green :)

But you can wear anything you want, maybe you can co-ordinate the color theme with yellow or green to get that Mehndi ambience

yeah i thnk u should wear wat u want,offcourse yellow n green r traditional colors but u can also add these 2 colors with ur favourite one like blue ect.i wore orange shirt with multi colored chori dar pajama n yelow duppata,,so i displayed traditional look as yellow duppata but also i changed dat old theme with other colors,,now adys ppl like to wear pink with yellow or blue with yellow,,,n jhommer i thnk it wud b a gr888 idea n i also seen it somewhere,,really preety looked.All the bst.

Well,i think you should follow your heart,its your Big Day,You like Yellow wear it or if you wanna go with some other colour go 4 it,dont think too much no matter which colour you choose as long as you r happy with your wedding.20% people will look at your dress colour and the rest will look only at the happiness and glow of your face.
Now a day in Pakistan jhoomer on mehndi is very in, no one wear tikka.I think jhoomer is better option.

Traditionally, brides themselves stayed in their yellow clothes until the wedding. So for the bride, the traditional color IS yellow.

well i wore a gharara of all the multi colours…so it wud go with wot all the girls were wearing…the top was a tight yellow kurta and duputta was yellow double shaded with one of the colour sin the gharara…we opted for turquiose blue…it looks soooo good…so bright and the pix came out great as u can see…:halo:

so wear wot u want as long as it looks like a mehendi type colour
