if you sleep on your back then it will get harder for you to breath because of the pressure on your lungs. This can cause the feeling of having someone pressing on you and lead to the other things you are mentioning. Sleep on your side and recite dua's, Ayats e.t.c not only before sleeping but in the morning as well.

this stuff is really scary....my uncle died because of this black magic...we know that because doctors (medical science) were baffled and couldnt explain it...he was only 35...may allah keep keep us safe ...allah SWT knows best

I have also attack of it some time and its caused by heavy tension, stress, uncertain routine of sleeping time, its come almost in late night or early morning when some one got a deep sleep but some parts of your brain dosent obey the orders to get some rest and they continued there activities which resulted a a Presure in your veins, blood circulation got dammaged specialy the parts of your sleeping position/ your brain get start warning alrert signanls HHMMM dont wana go deep its kind of BRAIN WAR LOL which distrub your body and brain at once///

I had this experience only once, a long time ago, but i dont think i was having nightmares at the time, maybe i was stressed i dont know. however, as i recovered, I rememebr sitting up looking around confused, I rememebr seeing a shadowy presence walking away. And then i just turned over and went back to sleep again (i was in the middle of a deep sleep).....but it wasnt until a friend mentioned her expereince some time later, that i remembered i had a simliar experience.

Now that i think about it, it is a simliar feelings to near- death experience peopel have, where the power of your speech goes first, and you see and hear everything for a while but you are powerless to move/talk. And some people do claim they're looking in at themselves from above. Hmmm, maybe they're playing jokes on us?

Ok i've experienced this too but mine wasnt as extreme. It happened the first time when I used to dorm. It was scary. I felt like i couldnt move my arms or legs. Yeah my brain was awake but my body didnt respond to its commands. It wass scaryy!! At first i couldnt figure it out. Then i googled it..and sleep paralysis came up. Phewww.

I suppose it can be considered a psychological state due to scared or being stressed. For me it was probably both.

So it happened like three four time and yeah i read a couple of duas and mentioned it to a bunch of people. They told me to read duas.

By the way i figured out a technique to get over it. First of all calm down. dont freak out. Then try to move your finger tips as those are the one of the most acute places of sensations. So start from there and move up through your arms. Once voluntary control of your body returns lol go back to sleep n hope it dont happen again.

I never had the bed spinning thing as the original poster mentioned. I did hear a really loud rushing water sound once. that was scary.

These kind of Jinns only exist in the movie Exorcist.
