Pashtun ethnic identity will eventually emerge as the leading ideological force in the NWFP as the region progresses economically. The only reason why it hasn't yet emerged is the economic backwardness and tribal nature of the region. It's easy to mislead such ignorant people and play the Islamic card with them, thus providing good cannon fodder for the Pakistani army. but once afghanistan develops into a modern country with a stable political system, the Pashtun identity is going to receive a fillip.
Pashto is one of the official languages of Afghanistan and the mother tongue of all Pathans there. It's used as the medium of instruction in schools (unlike the situation in Pakistan where Urdu is used). Hence, Pashtun identity has a solid habitat from which it can flourish and spill over across the Durand line. It will take time, but it will happen, with INDIAN, RUSSIAN, IRANIAN AND AMERICAN help.
Pakistan was created as a nation with two identity markers: Islam and Urdu. Urdu has failed to wipe out the folk languages of Pakistan. As a result, Pakistan's existence itself is threatened.

Nobody stops Frontier to use Pushto in their business and education. If Sindh, Baluchistan (even smaller states) can use their languages, so can the Frontier people. Quit throwing flames where their is no fuel.
More delusional stuff from a Bharati. The issue with Frontier is now more religious than Pakistan ever wanted. Waziris are being exploited by Arrabobs in the name of Islam. If Bharatis, Russians, and Iranians (forget about americans joining the Iranian MaToos) ever open this pendora box, they will have bigger chaos at their hands than Gazni and Gauri.

you don’t have to stop people from using their language in order to wipe it out. Many ppl on this forum have openly stated that Pakistan has a greater chance of survival if it becomes monolingual. And that’s the official policy in Pakistan. It took weeks of rioting by Sindhi activists for their language to be taught (even now it’s not used as a medium of instruction, nor is it an official language). If Sindh had been a part of India Sindhi would have been the official language of Sindh (it’s one of the official languages of India). Pashto and Balochi are neither taught nor used as official languages. It is likely that Balochi, being undeveloped, will die out soon (and with it the Balochi identity). But Pashto identity will always be strong. Secular ethno-nationalism will defeat religious fundamentalism. And believe me, it’s the latter that’s keeping Pakistan together. The day it’s defeated in Pakistan and the former rises above the surface, that will be the end of Pakistan.
And Bharatis, Russians and Iranians are not afraid of outdoing you so far as cynicism and selfishness is concerned.

Pakistan politics lesson 101 says: Mullahs win when there is no big party in place or a major party has goofed up completely. MAToos won against Bhattoo only when PPP was totally discredited due ot stupid policies of Bhattoo senior.
Karachi was the only area that used to give 8 to 10 seats to MAToos. Once MQM showed up, Mullahs were gone.
In the recent past MAToos won in Frontier only when big name parties were rubbished due to their stupid politics for 12 years. Now MaToos were kicked out by PPP and ANP. Thanks to big landlords, and big parties, Punjab will not allow the MAToo rule.
I hope this will be a good lesson for you O Bharati.

And why would they do that? The only country who might back up Afghanistan would be India, and that would to be destabilize Pakistan but it wont do it because of international pressure. Russia isnt a communist state anymore buddy. Its got abosultuely nothing by backing a greater Afghanistan. America, yea right! You really think in this day and age America is going to get itself labelled as a country which is going to help a small, poor state like Afghanistan expand?!?!?!?Got any examples of America backing up any other countries expand?!?!?
