Duppata on or off on Engagement?

Salaaam and Hi to all,

I am Nudrat from London my first post to you all and its a question i need an answer for very soon.
I am getting engaged inshallah next Saturday! I am a bridal wear designer myself and guide many brides on their whole attire, due to the very sudden proposal by my fiance to be now we are having a very small ceremony, my question is does one need to wear the dupatta on the head for the engagement? my ammi would like it on my head not in a bridal way, but there, now i think i dont need to but obviously I do not want to disrespect her at this happy time, I was planning a middle parting with a slight height and space for the tikka, very high back combing and bring all the hair to one side and making loose curls at the bottom, then place the dupatta really far behind on the height of the backcombing setting in with pins. This way I please us both!

Any other suggestions or ideas please forward asap!

Re: Duppata on or off on Engagement?

i think dupata on the head would look nice.

Re: Duppata on or off on Engagement?

yes,i also think so..that dupatta on the head would look nice..

Re: Duppata on or off on Engagement?

I think your idea sounds good. The dupatta on the head (the wa you've described it) will look nice. The only thing I'd change is the parting. Rather than doing it in the middle I'd do it on the side. The tikka can be placed under the hair. I think it looks more modern this way. The loose curls will look awesome!

Re: Duppata on or off on Engagement?

I agree with naqsa. Your idea sounds great. Neither will it look old fashioned nor any odd for a bride-to-be with nothing on head. So you should go with your idea.

Re: Duppata on or off on Engagement?

yep agree with ur idea! go ahead n good luck :)

Re: Duppata on or off on Engagement?

U shuld have ur dupatta on ur head coz its very tradional... Best Of Luck with ur egagement & may Allah bless u both alwayzz...

Re: Duppata on or off on Engagement?

On the head would be lovely. And to make yourself and your mother happy, your idea could work too. We'll be waiting for pictures..! Good

PF...have you posted pictues of your engaement in another thread?

Re: Duppata on or off on Engagement?

I think it looks way better on the head..!

yeah a long long time ago.. do u want me to find it for u

Thank you for the very prompt responses, this evening i had both my younger sisters at hand and did a very quick demonstration of what possibily could be the engagement look, the duppata on makes me look like the bride to be and makes me stand out as the one getting engaged rather than blending in with all the guests there, but yes I agree with thosewho said it brings in a bit of tradition, im doing a bit of both not too eastern and not too western.

My tikka is very beautifully decorated to the top so it has deatail that wont be hidden, so i dont mind the little middle parting at front, thank you to all that responded, inshallah just looking forward to Saturday now and yes may put a few pictures up,

thank you
x

If it’s not too much trouble…:flowers:

You looked beautiful on the shadi and valima…it’d be great to see the engagemnt pics too!
