Girls, i need some ideas to arrange net/jaali dupattas for a bride on her mehandi. It looks hard to position the net dupattas since they are guff and “akray huay” than the usual chiffon or kataan dupattas.
Any ideas, pics are welcome.

Re: dupatta styles
Oh come on chicas, atleast one of you gotta know how a bride can wear a net dupatta? ![]()
Re: dupatta styles
use bobby pins
Re: dupatta styles
I would soften the dupatta by washing it. otherwise it wud look so odd at her.
Re: dupatta styles
Also, it depends on what kind of net you are using. There are many soft, slinky varieties of net on the market that drape nicely.
Re: dupatta styles
Why not just use another fabric instead of net? Why do u need net? ![]()
Re: dupatta styles
yaar larkio, my mehandi ka jora is net with goti ka kaam on it. Now i cant be wierding out my outfit by wearing another non matching dupatta on my mehendi suit, can I? ![]()
What i meant to ask was abt different ways you can style it. Like the brides do for the wedding day. There has got be some ideas abt mehendi day as well
Re: dupatta styles
it depends on u, if u wanna cover ur face too (lolz though net dupattas dont reali conceal anything) or u just wanna keeep it on the head or just around the neck....it all depends on ur preference:D
Re: dupatta styles
hers what u do...take the dubatta and set it over ur head so that your hair is partially showing from the front. set the dubatta so one side is slightly tilted to the front..(if you know what i mean) this way u can bring one side of the pallu to the front..and the other side to the back! its ok if the dubatta is a bit akra huwa..just use black pins to help it keep its position in your head..and safetly pins to make sure it stays in position with your dress...hope that helped
if you need a demonstration..my sister had her mehndi recently..i will pm you her pic :)
Re: dupatta styles
net ka hi lena hai tu zarorat kiya hai :p
Re: dupatta styles
Well, u cuda gotten another outfit, instead fo one that needed net :p
Re: dupatta styles
i personally like the face of the bride to be covered on mehndi..ghoonghat i mean.. this is my friend’s pic from her mehndi..she udes 2 dupattas..one was chhiffon (the ghoonghat) in a contrast colour and the other one was the one with her jora pinned up slightly back..

this one is of my cousin..she used a single dupatta
ira..you can use your organza dupatta this way.. and get another crinkle chiffon dupatta to wear beneath..
Re: dupatta styles
lolz ppl....aab to usnay lay liya hai:P so help her wid the dupatta instead of criticising her choice :D
Re: dupatta styles
^ hahahaa
--- wait is this for the brides head?..
Re: dupatta styles
haan, toh pehle soch na tha ke mushkil hoyga position karnay ke liye :p
Re: dupatta styles
hey Ira, net dupattas are usually really hard to position cause they end up looking bulky, but if you wash it first to losen the fabric it shouldn’t be that bad. i would probably use two dupattas. This is a picture i came accros when looking for ideas. its not really my personal style but its kinda like what i meant about two dupattas.
Dupatta Setting For Mehndi
Presently not many brides on their mehndi's actually do the full cover up ghonghat look ( i love it give the viewers some suspense), majority are getting make up done and full on jewelled up, even some without duppatay on their head!
my question is and this would help me dearly for my mehndi in March 09, I want my dupatta on my head to go with my gharara look (creating a stunning shocking pink, orange and yellow mehndi gharara outfit)
I want cover up and do the ghoonghat style but then i think shall i keep it on but without the ghoonghat, I am actaully even thinking of creating a separate net veil for my enterance which will just go under my dupatta to just my collar bones, this way i keep the look i want but in a modern way and then take it off without anything messing up quite easily,
Would appreciate views even pictures
Re: MEHNDI DUPATTA SETTING
I was the bride who didn't wear a dupatta on head the day of Mehndi. It felt awkward and I wanted a different look on the wedding day so opted against it :) I wore a gharara and the dupatta seemed to look better draped in the front rather than on the head.
What you're going for sounds nice, veil's a great idea.
Re: MEHNDI DUPATTA SETTING
Well, I had an olive green sharara for my mehndi and had the dupatta on my head. My MIL didn't like it and she wanted the whole covered look and a yellow bride so she draped an emerald green sari over my head and face and I was the covered dulan (couldn't do anything about the yellow part, though). Needless, to say that she was happy and everything proceeded fine after that. (btw, my makeup was hidden with that and no one took pics.)
I vote for the veil. Have fun!
