I don't know about alcohol and that'd probably burn off in the cooking process, but a LOT of the deep frying uses Lard based products or adds animal shortning to 'crip' the donuts. In addition, any American food place that serves breakfast foods that are pork heavy like bacon, sausage etc, there is inadvertant contact with that food, the people running these kitchens are not the most hygenic. Anyways a friend who worked at Mc Donalds during highschool told some gross and scary stories about how much annimal product makes into things that are even veg. Pork products are all over the palce and I'd be more concerned about that.
how can DD be halal when half their products are made of pork! I just dont' trust fastfood workers to seperate my food, and if the food is largely pork based then chances are huge that they're will be mixture. You don't know who gets kick backs from who. I read a thread on another Paki forum about all the gross stuff going on with food in American and even the "halal' we get here is not necessarily safe.
Ive just been told by someone this morning that donuts from dunken donuts are not halal because of the ESSENCE they use which contains 22% of alcohal.
Is it true? I was such a big fan of DD..... but certainly will not go for it till i get sure that its halal. Can someone share their knowledge about that?
Thanks,
Sid
I know of a Dunkin Donuts here that's halal, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they all are. It could vary by the area or even by the location. If I were you, I'd see if some authority that I trust in these matters has already investigated it or not.

That's exactly why I also avoid eating in places that aren't strictly halaal (in terms of meat).
here is what you should try, when someone tells you something is not halal, ask them for proof that it is not halal rather than run around try to find out if they were right.
