Can some one plz explain in detail why??? Isn’t it that statues / pictures are allowed as long they are not directly in fornt of you when praying and secondly as long as you beleive that Allah is the only god , these statues realy dosent matter coz you are not praying to them. ???
So is this decission based on wisdom or just to make mulla’s happy??

Do you like all those statues with details of women body? I mean come'on. Do they have to go into such nitty gritty details in order to display dresses?

Those dresses normally represent the casual/ formal / bridal wear and ladies do care about those nitty gritty details , thats why when the like a dress on the statues they try to figure it out how it will look on them and they go and try/buy it. This is a marketing strategy to attract more customers.
and these shops normally do not sell burqa's for which your really do not need any statue's, all you need is 2 sticks to show the hieght and width.
Plus the NWFP government doesnt objected on the nitty gritty details , what they said was these dummies are statues and statues are not allowed in islam so thats why they are getting banned.
they did the same thing with the audio/video store earlier this year and banned them from puttig the pictures of actresses and actors.
Are these restrictions limited only to Women's mannequin?
What about mannequin of men and children which are also used for display, are they haram or halal?? banned or not?

were they allowed to carry out their business (sell songs, videos)??
Sorry for my ignorance, but who is the individual by the name of "Wazir Ala Ikram Khan" mentioned in the article - what position in the government ?
Kewlsolara is right, this is a marketing strategy adopted by many employers; you put fancy clothes on a mannequin. One of the gazillions of forms for advertising a shalwar kameez, etc. At any rate - given every issue going on in the world at the current moment, the issue of displaying clothed female mannequins in store display windows seems, to me, a bit low on the list of priorities.

I think its a good decision but the CM's first responsibility is to
provide justice. Justice to all those women who are oppressed by
TRIBAL LAWS in NWFP.
govt ka phela kaam Justice for all. than he can spray paint all the
billboards he wants........I don't care.
Why do you need a dummy to display your wares? Everyone knows the dummies have unproportional dimensions...An auntie with a 56-70-80 dimensions would hardly look the same way as a mannequin in jeans...
If anyone wants to buy something, they will, regardless if it's on a shelf or if it's wrapped around a luscious model...Good move...We already have enough dummies with a western outlook...

THose dummy's attract 80% of the yourger generation because those dummies normally have latest fashion clothing on them.
where as aunties of that size normally get their clothes done by the tailors :)
I think from an Islamic stand point, a valid case can be made that these mennequins are unislamic. Especially if you consider that there are a large number of muslims who genuinely believe that hand-painted pictures are totally unislamic (some people do say there is some wiggle room in photographs taken by cameras etc).
So that issue is one thing. Now someone can say that first the government should solve all other problems and then worry about mennequins... but that is a circular argument. Problems of the world will never be solved completely, and so we can't say the government should not take action on any issue which they feel is easily remediable (according to their own viewpoint).
Now, whether mennequins are unislamic or not, I personally have no opinion on this, primarily because I have not done requisite research on this issue. Nor do I feel the necessity of spending my time on this. Those who feel this is a sufficiently important issues which impacts their lives, feel free. :)
