Re: Dulhan Expo
Hey Sara, I am... just to see what's there, not that I expect anything from the expo. . I need a dj though..... so gonna see if any good ones are there. Let me know if you plan to go... I can give you a ride from the LIRR if you need.
ps - huntington, or further out? I thought it was at Meville
Re: Dulhan Expo
Syani, i can only come if i get a ride.. public transportation is bad enough on sundays, i dun wanna end up in the middle of nowhere on long island.. i think im lookin at a 2 hour commute ![]()
Re: Dulhan Expo
Yep, you are. Three hours if you count trying to get from your place to Penn Station, then the nearly 2 hr trip to LI. Sorry babes, if I was still in the Bronx I would’ve definitely given you a ride. Unfortunately I’m at the other end of LI now, a good 2 hrs from Bronx.

Re: Dulhan Expo
I want to, does that count? :=/
Re: Dulhan Expo
i went there last yr. overpriced clothing, too loud (three dj's playing at the same time). the good part were freebies like mehendi, good food, a fashion show (and i bet the clothes would be classified as "too slutty" by sara516). They had a few photographers, videomakers and wedding planners displaying their work too which i thought was really cool but they were towards the more expensive side. oh yeah they also had makeupartists.
Re: Dulhan Expo
shweet… hmm… cool. Thanks for the info! I think Ramadan starts on Sunday, the 24th… so much for the good food!
Hehehee. Photography is actually one of the things I’ve decided to spend extra money on, and have already booked an American photographer; I want really high quality professional photos. I see it as an investment… long after the party’s over, the memory faded, I want these pictures of loved ones to show to the future generations.
Sara… I re-checked… you were right the first time. The train would be to Amityville, and that is actually a 1 hour ride, not 2 like i originally thought. To come here to Stony Brook, it’s 2 hours, and I was thinking along those lines.
Re: Dulhan Expo
hey syani i know a guy quite young and in training now but you can see from his webpage that he’s pretty professional Ali B. | Flickr
i dont know for sure if he does wedding photography…all i know is that he takes great photos. plus he might charge u less.

Re: Dulhan Expo
Married.... when was that? I never heard about it. How was the expo?
Shweetdreamz... thanks for the link! I already have a photographer, but this guy is definitely very good. I'll pass his info along to another friend who's getting married next year too.
Re: Dulhan Expo
Went to the Dulhan Expo on Sunday. Don’t mean to be critical, but what is it with Indian bridal fashions, and even regular fashions in general, that all the outfits are SOOO GAUDY and TACKY??? It’s like looking at a painfully over-decorated christmas tree. The theme for every vendor’s bridal lengha seemed to be to ensure that not one inch of the lengha show any material… that every available piece of cloth be covered in rhinestones, sequins, etc etc. So basically they want brides to spend $1500+ on wedding dresses that make them look unsophisticated and tasteless.
What a bummer.
Got some cards from DJ’s… that was probably the only plus side. And there was one designer who has a store in Jackson Heights, whose clothing line was actually very nice, but verrrrrrrrry expensive. Saw a saree that was absolutely gorgeous, fabulous work on it… about $1100.
For anyone interested, name of the store is Nawab Saheb. Oh, and lastly, there were some wedding makeup artists in LI who were advertising… if anyone’s interested, message me and I will find their business cards and provide their info.
Re: Dulhan Expo
hey syani...do u know where the "nawab saheb" boutique is located?
i agree with what you said regarding the clothes. and not only were they too costumey but most of them looked OLD and WORN. i asked one vendor if these were just samples (maybe they worn ones were meant to be a sample and the real dress was more neat looking) but she told me these arent samples..this is what u get! yuck.
Re: Dulhan Expo
Take ALOT of pictures!
