I agree with Rayan, it depends on the brand and also the storage type. Also HDD and HD SD... my camera cost more because it is HDD and HD.. and its sony..
usually roughly you can find in carrefour video cameras from 1200 dirhams or maybe starting from even cheaper in sales etc...
yikes .. i didnt know buying a camcorder is that complicated ! 
Ok so HD should mean high definition … no clue what other things mean… the storage capacity 5-6 GB should be ok .. ( if i heard my friend saying that correctly )
here in the UK , the prices start from £130 pounds ..or so i was told !
I guess i should tell him to buy one from here then !

Mostly electronic items are cheaper here in dubai, but if you have a friend who knows a bit about all these HD/SD, HDD/DVD/MiniDV things, then let him/her buy one for you.
I feel embarassed to say this … but its actually him who wants to buy the camcorder and i only offered to help him ..
I might just let him know i am pathetic at it and he can make the choice !

HD is high definition and HDD is hard disk drive.. sony cameras are coming with minimum of 40 GB...
i like the HDD HD one.. but it is damn expensive..
130 quid is roughly 650 dirhams so i guess thats cheap but it also depends on what brand the 130 quid camera is and also the storage capacity and SD HD and bunch of other things to look at...

I'm sorry Dubai folks, I beg to differ, electronics USED to be cheap in Dubai, now they are ridiculously expensive compared to the US, I have thoroughly researched a number of things, game consoles, digital cameras, televisions, dvd players, camcorders, laptops, everything in Dubai is about 30-40% more expensive than in the US.
And Canada is even cheaper.

Do they have HDTV (either via air, satellite or cable) in Mideast and Pakistan? Or is it just people using them for Blueray?
