Dubai window shopping Dec 2010 for designer shoes

I went to dubai recently for about 9 or 10 days and spent a few whirlwind days checking out the malls and shopping a bit. I had hoped to find some designer shoes to go with my bridal lehnga (my wedding is in June next year). I didn’t end up buying anything but did lots of window shopping. I hadn’t looked at prices of designer shoes in Toronto or the U.S. so can’t really compare them to dubai. But other things that I was comparing prices of (e.g. high end watches) were more expensive in dubai than Toronto (in spite of the fact that there is no tax on goods in dubai).

I went to Mall of Dubai and another mall - I think Emirates Mall to look at matching clutches and shoes. I checked out Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin. I liked one or two shoes at Jimmy Choo but nothing I had to have. I didn’t like anything at all at Blahnik - not my style I think. And one or two Louboutins were nice but were very pricey and out of my budget. I liked two other designers that I had never heard of: Gianmarco Lorenzi (I heard Russians really love his shoes) and Zess. I think they’re both Italian. Anyone else heard of them? I loved Zess expecially as they had matching clutches and shoes. Problem was that I had not bought my lehnga yet so I couldn’t buy my shoes. I’m leaning towards Zess for now, though I’ve never seen them in Toronto - anyone else know if you can Zess shoes in Toronto or somewhere in the U.S.? I might end up getting a friend to pick up them up for me from Dubai Mall. It’s either that or Jimmy Choo shoes. I think clutch and shoes were coming to approx. $ 1,000 for Zess. The Jimmy Choos were pricier.

Anyone know if it’s cheaper to buy Jimmy Choos from Toronto or the U.S.? I am going to be going to Las Vegas in 2 or 3 month - I’m wondering if I should look there instead of Toronto?

I’ve never bought a pair of designer shoes but thought it would be nice to get a pair for wedding. What do other people think - is it worth it or not? Also, what colour shoes should I get? The colour combination for my bridal lehnga is red and purple with golden kaam as well as crystals on it. Sugestions pls!!!

If you get gold with or without crystals, it'll be more versatile as you'll likely be able to wear them with other joras too.
Check Davids on Bloor or in Yorkdale mall as well as Holt Renfrew for designer shoes in Toronto. I think Sherway might have a few stores that carry hi end shoes, I'm sure Bayview Village does. The Italian brands you are looking for must be there.
Whatever shoe or sandal you opt for, make sure its comfortable.... Or as comfy as high heels can get anyway haha. Also don't rule out stores like Town Shoes or Nine West as you can sometimes find beautiful shoes there too. Save yer money and splurge on the honeymoon ;)
Google "zess shoes toronto" to see what comes up. You can also comparison shop for prices online. Ooh and our dollar is pretty strong right now, so perhaps a trip to buffalo is in order to nordstrom or neiman Marcus?

Re: Dubai window shopping Dec 2010 for designer shoes

There are a lot of designer outlets in the Vegas area, you might find something there. The Zappos outlet is there too. If you don't mind non designer, Nina Shoes has really beautiful dress shoes. Everything is more expensive in Dubai, so it's probably cheaper to just buy here. Check out all the after xmas sales...
