Dubai visa initially rejected...now have British passport

Hi Guys

So we went to Dubai in May 2010 and it was fine and then we were gonna go in Dec 2010 and hubby’s visa was rejected Dubai (apparently he overstayed many years ago-but they got the wrong person)..

now he has British passport…we want to go this year…will they stop him from entering on the basis of his visa being rejected on a Pakistani passport 2 years ago??

Thanks

Re: Dubai visa initially rejected...now have British passport

u have 2 check from embassy wasay overstay pe they fine but not reject the visa plz confirm from embassy

Re: Dubai visa initially rejected...now have British passport

I dont think they should , coz if he travels on british passport that passport wont have a record , they should give him right to entry after a little check .. but if they ask whether you have travelled on another passport before , dont lie in that case ... but do ask them how this previous issue can be solved ..

When my BIL first visited dubai his visa got rejected coz his name was similar to another person's name who had run away after a fraud case... he wasnt allowed entry .. my father used his contacts and took the matter to court to ensure that the two people arent the same and it took quite a while for BIL's name to be cleared and finally granted a visa ...

Re: Dubai visa initially rejected...now have British passport

hmmm i have emailed the UAE embassy but doubt they will reply...i called emirates and they said they cant stop entry because of that because u now have british passport...but hubby is worried that if they do checks then they may say that no ur visa was rejected earlier..dont know how 2 clear the name :S esp when it was not him...funny thing is that the person who did overstay many years ago had the same father name aswell! wierd! In May apparently it did come up but they still gave the visa...but in dec they rejected it without any questions so we couldnt appeal it..poor hubby couldnt go..flight and hotel went to complete waste...dont wanna do that again...but i dont think they can stop you on a British passport now..

Thanks for your help guys..if u knw ne more info..let me know xx

Re: Dubai visa initially rejected...now have British passport

Tabu, I have got a British passport and I have travelled multiple times to Dubai and they have never stopped or done extensive checks .. they just take a quick 5 minutes , process the administrative bit and off I go ...

So I am thinking , Inshallah your husband shouldnt really have any issues .. but you know its still best to speak to the embassy to get a proper clarification coz these Arabs are a bit creepy , you never know what they may pull out of the hat .. and you dont wanna risk any money gone to waste .. so do wait and ask the embassy ..

Thanks Chicken Biryani...I have also been several times and they never do too many checks esp if u have british passport..inshallah it will be fine...we will book the trip and then Allah Malik :)

Re: Dubai visa initially rejected...now have British passport

Overstaying a visa does not result in a ban. It is resolved by a simple fine, which is paid at the time of exit, so I dont know how your husband managed to get out of Dubai without paying the fine in the first place. But as you said, they had the wrong person.

Im not sure what the process is for British passport holders, or others who get visa on arrival, but if there's a retinal scan involved (which is the case for all visit visa holders and first time residence visa holders), then yes, they will be able to tell that he had a previous violation.

Re: Dubai visa initially rejected...now have British passport

I believe when you leave of your own accord after overstaying you don't get banned. It's only when you're caught overstaying that you get banned.

Re: Dubai visa initially rejected...now have British passport

Since he's a British citizen now & hold's a British passport, not many formal checks will be imposed. I'm pretty sure he'll be granted a visa pretty much straight away regardless the previous reject on his Pakistani passport.

Re: Dubai visa initially rejected...now have British passport

i dont think there should be any issue at all.

Re: Dubai visa initially rejected...now have British passport

I don't know what is Dubai law, but can tell you about US. If you overstay here you need to get a waiver. There is a form for that which you can get from immigration website.

And don't be a fooled, every single official event is recorded on your profile. And in this day and age retrieving information is a piece of cake.
Unless your husband has changed his name and dob his record will always trouble him.

edit: unless he gets the pardon through proper immigration process of Dubai.
