Re: Dubai Help: Shopping & Places to See
^ so was it about the same price or even cheaper staying in the apartments than the hotels? I'd like to try this out the next time I'm over there. We stayed in the bur dubai area (3*** hotel) just across the road from Dubai's Carre four supermarket
Yeah and I loved it, it caters for everyone, not for a single moment I thought i was away from home, if possible could you PM me any relevant details e.g. cost of staying in dubai marina, shopping and attractions in that area? I did a google search and it looks beautiful!
where are you from MasoomLarki?
Re: Dubai Help: Shopping & Places to See
hi, I am from UK. What about you? You asked about the prices of staying in the Dubai Marina apartments. When we visited last year, we stayed in the "Murjan" tower. There are 3 towers in that particular part. Now it has expanded vastly and other towers have been built with their own seperate luxuries. When we visited last year, it wasn't star rated as 25% of the whole marina had not been completed. We paid (at that time) around 12 pound per night each if I remember correctly for five of us and we had a two bedroom apartment (which was like the size of a 5 bedroom house) which worked out extemely cheap in comparison to say the 3* plus rated hotels. Now the arguments I have faced about staying in an apartment is that you dont get the same advanatages that you get when staying in a hotel in Dubai.
In my opinion, it depends as to what you want out of a particular holiday. IF you would like to remain within the perimiters of your chosen destination then staying in a hotel resort would be most probably the best solution. You will have easy access to the beach etc. But if you were like me who went with my sister and best friends, then we were one that were never in our apartment post say 5pm when weather was cooler!
But we had our own swimming pool, own gym plus sauna etc. Our own shopping complex. The only headache you may face as a "munda" (hehe) is that its self catered so you have to do the food shopping etc yourself. But that wasnt an issue for us at all. The local supermarket was on the base level. (Spinneys) We had our own pharmacy, own eating places etc . I will post you the pictures and you can see if you like it.
Now when we went back to dubai earlier this year, it is now fully completed and Arabs/foreigners/Famous faces have bought apartments there for residential purposes. We booked through a website here set up in the UK but they no longer rent these apartments out. So we faced great difficulty when trying to stay back there as tourists. (this is why we have decided to buy one out there for future visits) But we managed to stay in a huge apartment with 2 balconies. It costed us around 18 pound per night which still compared to staying in a hotel is dirt cheap.
I really hope this helps. lolz...as you can probably sense we have an addiction with the place. And pple cant understand why. But can you?
p.s. sorry for the typos
Re: Dubai Help: Shopping & Places to See
^ ofcourse I can understand, it was my first time visiting any other country aprt from pakistan, so now I want to say to my parents see there is actually life outside UK and Pakistan lol, and I absolutely loved it. Wanna go again, and it's only been a full week since i've been back today.
So do they charge you on a per person/per night basis for these apartments?
BTW we also did our own food shopping from the carrefour supermarket, the hotel food was yuck and expensive at the same time, so thats why I thought it would be best to rent an apartment.
Could u possible forward or PM me any details about where to book the apartment etc?
Re: Dubai Help: Shopping & Places to See
lolz cool ...i know what you mean. and we had that feeling when we came back first time.
now you have to book via people that deal with these apartments privately..I have a couple of contacts but it dpends because some of them are subject to availability. As i know 2 of the pple, I will ask them direct for you and then get them to email you information re prices etc as they vary. But I will haggle with them at the outset cos i know them hehe. I booked last year through yourstay.com. You can check on this website but i doubt very much they have apartments out there now.
When are you planning to go?
Re: Dubai Help: Shopping & Places to See
^ I'm not planning to go again before next summer..got a very busy year with work etc, PM me your email address and i'll email you insha allah closer to the time, not financially stable to get a flat out there as yet but maybe sometime in the future insha allah, so how many times have you been to dubai?
Re: Dubai Help: Shopping & Places to See

And talking about being financially stable ...who says I am lol ...We are researching into the prospect of doing so. How did you cope with the heat ? At first I was spraying my friends and sis with this cooling spray as I arrived at the airport ...everyone was like can you plz put that damn thing away ...;)
