Aisha, if you belong to memon community, for sure they are rip-off :) Otherwise, paying $5-6 dollars a day two ways is nothing.

I would like to quote an Australian friend of mine, who has been living in Dubai for a couple of years:
"Whether Dubai's cost of living is expensive or not depends on where you come from. What do things cost in your home country, what are your living standard expectations? I think taxis are very cheap, Brits think they're incredibly cheap, Indians/Pakistanis think they're expensive."

I paid 72 quids for traveling from Victoria Station to Walthamstow by London Taxi. Just one way!

if u are earning in dirhams taxis are not cheap besides i got an amazing place for u to stay its movenpick hotel apartments..its a decent place just barely 2mins walking distance from american hospital but ull have to find out the rates Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts - Dubai - Overview please make sure u cheack for movenpick hotel apartments as they have a hotel too right there with the hotel apartments.
