Well i’m a British citizen and i’ve been residing in America for some years now with a resident alien card…my question, is it possible to have a dual nationality for both the United States and Great Britain? I did email the British embassy and they said they don’t discuss nationality stuff online but told me to read a section on their website…but i can’t seem to find a clear answer to my question…so if any one has any info about this please lemme know…thanks

Same case as mine, and I have been told that I can keep both. There are quite a few brit-americans who have both. look online u will find tons of info.

If so, how did u go about it…maybe i shud contact the U.S. emabssy…Wow, and ur sister has 3 nationalites…i thought my parents gave up their Pakistani passports to obtain British ones, but maybe they just wanted to give them up! LOL! anyway thanks again i’ll try googling again…

I also wanted a dual Nationality..But here in holland.. it's impossible now to keep dual nationality..I have British nationality..i wanted to have the dutch too.. but due some circumstances.. it's impossible now.. now u have to choose.. either this or that..if i have to choose i would keep ma british one..:)

I decided to keep both, there is nothing special needed, as long as your other nationality recognizes dual citizenship, which Uk does, you are okay. That is what I have been told and that has ben the experience of my sister and some other people I know. My sis has 3 because she was born in Pakistan but to Uk citizens so got pakistani and Uk both, and then when she moved to US he became a US citizen too.
Your parents probablystill have Pakistani citizenship, there iwas no requirement to relinquish your Pak citizenship to become a UK citizen atleast back whenmy folks became UK citizens (late 50’s to early 60’s)

I know someone .. he Holds Pakistani, Canadian, British and U.S. nationality.

Yes u were right, i asked my Mum and she said that she has Pakistani citizenship but i guess she just doesn’t have their passport or something…anyway she has left it up to me to start applying for the United States citizenships and that my Dad already contacted them and they said we would have to do it thru the British embassy…so i will look into that online and/or go there to start the process…thanks again for ur help
