i don't know about the specific dua you are referring to, but here are some Quranic ayats that are relevant in this case... all dealing with patience and sabr. i hope these help.

Say: Shall I give you glad tidings of things Far better than those? For the righteous are Gardens in nearness to their Lord, with rivers flowing beneath; therein is their eternal home; with companions pure (and holy); and the good pleasure of Allah. For in Allah's sight are (all) His servants,- ...] Those who show patience, Firmness and self-control; who are true (in word and deed); who worship devoutly; who spend (in the way of Allah); and who pray for forgiveness in the early hours of the morning. {III.15-17}
O ye who believe! seek help with patient perseverance and prayer; for Allah is with those who patiently persevere ...] Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere, {II.153-155}
....be patient and persevering: For Allah is with those who patiently persevere {VIII.46}
If Allah do touch thee with hurt, there is none can remove it but He: if He do design some benefit for thee, there is none can keep back His favour: He causeth it to reach whomsoever of His servants He pleaseth. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. {X.107}
If We give man a taste of Mercy from Ourselves, and then withdraw it from him, behold! he is in despair and (falls into) blasphemy. But if We give him a taste of (Our) favours after adversity hath touched him, he is sure to say, "All evil has departed from me:" Behold! he falls into exultation and pride. Not so do those who show patience and constancy, and work righteousness; for them is forgiveness (of sins) and a great reward. {XI.9-11}
Those who patiently persevere, seeking the countenance of their Lord; Establish regular prayers; spend, out of (the gifts) We have bestowed for their sustenance, secretly and openly; and turn off Evil with good: for such there is the final attainment of the (eternal) home,- {XIII.22}
What is with you must vanish: what is with Allah will endure. And We will certainly bestow, on those who patiently persevere, their reward according to the best of their actions. {XVI.96}
To those whose hearts when Allah is mentioned, are filled with fear, who show patient perseverance over their afflictions, keep up regular prayer, and spend (in charity) out of what We have bestowed upon them. {XXII.35}

And no one will be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint,- {41.35}
And We shall try you until We test those among you who strive their utmost and persevere in patience....{47.31}
Therefore patiently persevere, as did (all) messengers of inflexible purpose.... {46.35}
Therefore do thou hold Patience,- a Patience of beautiful (contentment). {70.5}
