If you want to use it for just one event, try to rent it from a studio/shop or borrow from your acquaintances.

If you want to use it for long time, then it all depends what's your budget, size/weight idea, preference for still images or videos, indoor or outdoor shots?

Canon T3i with 18-55 and 55-250mm lenses. Total for 501 USD. The camera is great and the lenses are good for good light outdoor photos. Canon also has good video capabilities than Nikon. In this price range the Nikon options are very limited and not very good.

For indoor, low light shots and portraits get the cheap Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens.

I found one for 99 USD on Amazon. Amazon.com: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens: CANON: Electronics

So for 600 USD you can have a camera body, and 3 lenses to take pictures in variety of situations.

Currently, i’m using this camera. Price range is US$ 150 to 200+ (depends on specification).

24x optical zoom + 3D image capture

Another thing which I think is important to share here that is ‘when you’ll buy a Camera, it will remain with you as long as it continue functioning or you sell it due to any reason. Means if you take good care of it than you may use it for a very long period’.

Like I’m using my Camera from almost 2 years and it is still in new condition. I agree with ekumunng if you need it for temporary purpose, then hire it and if you would like to keep it permanently, then my sincere advice is buy a good Camera one once for all, and if you’r sharing photos/videos on any social network, then below mobile+camera will be a good option, though it is little costly.
