I am looking for a lotion/cream/oil etc., for seriously dry non-facial skin. This is for skin that is so dry that a “hue of white” forms over it soon after application of even the most popular dry skin remedies. Please share. Thanks.
Re: Dry Skin
Jergens Shea Butter.
I used anything and everything from olive oil, aloe vera to the best of moizturizers when I burnt my skin a few months ago. My skin was peeling off so you can imagine how ridiculously dry it had gotten. I couldn’t sleep at nights because it always felt so stretchy and dry
And then I was at walmart and bought this lotion only because it was on sale and omg, it only took TWO days for my skin to start showing improvements. Every other person at my work has bought it after I told them such great things about it ![]()
Re: Dry Skin
OK. Lemme try that. Thanks Shay.:biggthumb
Re: Dry Skin
Also try Lubriderm, that works well too. Have you tried Cocoa Butter?
Re: Dry Skin
I have tried both Lubriderm and Cocoa Butter. Good but I need a little bit more heavy duty.
Re: Dry Skin
does majorly dry skin usually itch a lot or does that usually mean allergies or a rash is present? many times even if I put baby lotion on, after an hour it's back to being dry and itchy
Re: Dry Skin
i have very severe allergies and baby lotion or oil has never worked. i think it's intentionally very mild since it's to suit a baby.
Re: Dry Skin
this sounds like a jergens shea butter commercial on tv:D
but you convinced me, i’m going to give it a try since i’ve heard so much about shea butter but never knew what it was. ![]()
so I hope it takes care of the itchiness too
Re: Dry Skin
lol, i love it. best moisturizing/healing/soothing lotion, hands down.
Re: Dry Skin
I find E45 and Vaseline Intensive Care works on dry skin conditions. Or contact your GP for a specialised prescribed lotion/cream - i.e. Oilatum.
Re: Dry Skin
Thanks Dushwari, I think I need a prescription.
Shay, I tried the Jergens religiously for 2 days, but my skin is still painfully dry…
It felt so good but I think I need medical attention. Thanks so much though!
Re: Dry Skin
This shea butter is good for the body as well? It doesnt make you feel like you’ve got a thick layer of gunk on you, does it?
And Niksik- thats Sanam, not Dushi.. same avatars so thats what threw you off ![]()
Re: Dry Skin
Sabriya, I hear that shea butter is excellent for the body. No, it absorns quite well but my problem is more severe.
And oh, sorry Sanam! SOOOOOORRY! I just saw the avatar…![]()
Re: Dry Skin
I have SEVERE dryness on my body, like crazyyy to the point where my skin has changed colors, and IM still not going to the derm for fear of bad news! ![]()
Do you think maybe you have eczema?
Re: Dry Skin
after a bth while the skin is still orta wet, apply some thick emolient cream like a shea butter( I use Bath and body work's "romance" shea butter for the kds skin as both of them have dry skin) It helps. Also Nivea has some really heavy lotins.Cetaphil also is a good brand. Apply creams t least 2 times in a day. Dermologist also recommended to use a water spray on the most driest parts and then apply cream again. Also drinks lots and lots of water:)
Re: Dry Skin
Hmmm. That sounds good Ask99. Maybe I should try that before going to the doc???
I hate making a trip to the doc’s office anyway.
Off to Bath & Body Works tonight…
Re: Dry Skin
This is the weblik to the product. We use the “breathe” collection and then the jar one in romance..I dont see the specific one we use online but you can have an idea. Hope it helps. Also ae you itchy a lot as that could be a sighn of skin allergy like eczema

Re: Dry Skin
Yes I do itch and stretch and have flakes and it hurts real bad. There are no peeling patches indicative of eczema, but overall dryness…![]()
