Dry Hair

I have developed really dry hair over the last year. I’m on medications that dry me out a lot. So it’s gotten worse. I have used shampoo after shampoo to infuse moisture and sometimes it just causes the hair to get a “karak” or hard rough feel.

I use coconut oil to make it softer and that helps but due to my schedule I can’t do it regularly.

Moroccan oil is expensive : I have not tried it yet.

I use conditioner like 2-3 times per week.

Get your hands on cold-pressed argan oil. After you are done with shampoo and conditioner, which you should use every time you wash your hair, rub a few drops of argan oil in between your palms and run your hands on your hair. Depending on dryness and natural hair texture, you can either do this on ends only or run your fingers through the entire length.
As for the conditioner, use it every time you shampoo your hair as I said earlier and use one that is designed for dry/thick/brittle hair.
Also, you can add almond oil to your coconut oil. Warm this mixture up in microwave for a few seconds and then apply it.

P.S. Thesr are some of the tips I personlly used when I was going through a similar phase. I hope these work for you, too! Good luck!

Re: Dry Hair

Use Morocan oil. It may be expensive but a small bottle goes a long way. You only a need a couple of drops on damp hair. Here its around $25 for 150ml bottle, but that has lasted me about three months. Saves me in the long run, don't need to get any specialty treatments at the hairdressers, don't need to use conditioner all the time.

Re: Dry Hair

is that brand?morocan oil?

does it work on dandruff ?

Re: Dry Hair

Yes thats the brand i use.. blue bottle with an orange M. I don't have dandruff so im not too sure, i don't massage it on my scalp, just from mid-length down.

I used to have dandruff ages ago, so i started using head and shoulder shampoo and conditioner and never had it since. Sometimes the basics work too, don't always need expensive salon treatments

Re: Dry Hair

PCG , see if you can get a sample packet of Moroccan oil to try out

Re: Dry Hair

Re: Dry Hair

Re: Dry Hair

I have curly hair...which means by default its always on the drier side. I started using this product by Redken called Anti Snap and I love it. I makes my hair softer, feel better and just overall look healthier. I just take a bit of it after my shower and apply mainly on the ends and some of it 1 inch away from my roots. Aside from that...Moroccan oil, moisture rich conditioners, etc.

Re: Dry Hair

PCG, rub 3-4 tbsp mayonnaise (I use quick home-made fresh one with egg+oil+vinegar+lemon juice) in your damp hair and wash after 30 minutes. You'll love your hair.

Mayonnaise Hair Treatment Recipe

  1. ***Prep your hair* **using warm water to get it nice and damp, but not soaking wet.
  2. ***Scoop some mayonnaise out of the jar* **and start rubbing it through your hair like you would a conditioner. The amount that you are going to use really depends on the length and thickness of your hair. Feel free to lather on the amount that you feel most comfortable with.
  3. ***Wrap your head of hair with a plastic wrap,* **a plastic bag, or shower cap to trap the heat inside. Heat opens the pores and allows the treatment to penetrate strands further and thus work better.
  4. ***Let the treatment sit on the hair for at least 20 minutes.* **You can let it sit longer depending on how damaged your hair already is.
  5. *****Wash the mayonnaise out.*** **This is most easily done in the shower using a diluted shampoo. You may need to shampoo a few times before you are able to get all of the mayonnaise out. Be sure to use the shampoo gently, not tangling the hair.
