Anytime I straighten my hair, which is 90% of the time, my hair just looks really dry. It looks dry even if I don’t blow dry it, let it dry naturally and then straighten it.
I’ve been using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for the past few years. Recently, I started using a straightening shampoo and conditioner. I always put a bit of straightening cream in my hair after washing it. Regardless of what I use though, it has the same effect and tends to look dry afterwards.
Is there any type of oil or something I can put in my hair before I wash it that will give it a healthy glow? I don’t like coconut oil … that stuff smells. I’m also not one to put eggs in my hair or anything edible like that.
I've started to use my brothers shampoo (don't ask) but consequentially i have to wash my hair everyday...as I previously had dry hair, this was unrecommeded as it used to lead to hair loss.
Now it is more "silky" I don't like this change in me. Is it due tothe shampoo? (which btw leaves my hair feeling as soft as a babies)
You need to use a barrier product on your hair to protect your hair from the heat, which in turn prevents hair from drying out and the ends from splitting too quickly.
You still use your straightening creams and whatnot as usual over the top of it, and they are lightweight so don’t weigh your hair down. Try Protein Protection Spray from Tigi.
My hair is naturally wavy and has alot of body to it which makes it easy to style. In order to keep my hair untangled even after showering, I use Redken conditioner to smooth out the natural waves.
Mehnaz, I put a thread up recently about a hair conditioner. I have frizzy dry hair, and that conditioner does wonders on it (Mash'Allah), but it must be used regularly. This is if you dont want to go with a home remedy.
Its by UANS and its called Crema. Based out of Canada. smile
I have very dry hair too, I don't use conditioners or creams, I never style my hair or blowdry it, just use herb based natural shampoos and let it dry naturally and use black seed oil very regularly. that has to be the best oil ever that ive used. plus i usually put in an egg into my shampoo directly and it works for my hair.
