have you tried using oil in your hair? it can help your hair get healthier and less dry'ed . worth a try :) i used to have damaged/dry i started putting oil in it a few hours before showering and its muchhhh better now!
Try oiling your hair and also a smoothing serum. I use It's a 10 and it removes tangles, softens/smooths out your hair without leaving a greasy feel...it's pretty light weight.
Washing your hair too much can strip your scalp of it's natural oils that keep your hair softer...that's the reason behind your stylist's suggestion. Another thing you can try is a clairfying shampoo.....it removes build up from your hair/scalp....so that you don't have to wash as often.
Do you use heat i.e straighteners? This could be your problem, especially if you are using them every other day. If you do, try some styles that don't involve using heat.
Oil your hair before washing, if you are worried about an overly oily scalp, just oil the length. Meadowfoam Oil on it's own or mixed with Coconut Oil is supposed to leave the hair soft and silky.

thanks Stoppit.
I have curly hair and also i have issue of hair thinning. I dont use straightner/hair dryer. maybe once in months.
i oil my hair at least twice a week with mustard or coconut oil or olive oil still i have very dry hair and itchy/dandruff scalp.
if i wash more often my scalp is fine but than the issue is whether its gud for dry hair???
Hmm, try putting a few drops of tea tree oil in your shampoo....it's antibacterial and can help with the itchy scalp. There's a product that I'm trying these days..called Honeyderm...so far I like it. It's a spray made of all natural ingredients....honey/bee hive ingredients being a major focus. The spray and shampoo are supposed to help with reducing hairfall, promoting hair growth, eliminating dandruff and itchy scalp. Honey is antibacterial so that might help with the itchiness and it also draws moisture in which can help with the dryness.
I think if u oiling ur hair and washing it with right shampoo then there must be mistake in diet that 'y u can't sort out ur prob. for thinning hair i will suggest ur to start take Omega 3 fatty acids. they are hugely valuable if you want to increase the thickness of the hair. These are primarily found in fish and fish oil supplements. They are also known as essential fatty acids EFA. They are extremely helpful in preventing hair fall and make your hair thick and healthy.
And yes also start taking water, milk and juices as much as u can. specially now a days peach juice is really effective.
I came back to this thread to say "If you're hair thinning isn't due to PCOS or hormonal imbalance blah blah". There is really no remedy that will fix this other than getting the PCOS under control. Since you're ttc, have you asked your doctor about metformin?
Type "PCOS metformin trying to conceive" in google and you will get lots of link to other forums discussing this. Diet also plays a role for many people, so many who are prescribed metformin prefer to go on a low G.I. or low carb diet rather than take the drugs.. but it will take longer. There are some threads in the H&F forum.
Anyway, the hair is a difficult thing thing to fix. You just have to try different things until you find the ones that seem to work for you.
The itchy/dandruff/flaky scalp is usually down to one of two different reasons. The two main shampoos that address this are Neutrogena T-Gel or Nizoral (Ketoconazole) which can be found in the pharmacy. Usually I would recommend trying Nizoral first for 6-8 weeks to see if you have an improvement in your scalp issues. However, you may want to try T-Gel first because it has "limited antiandrogen effect, and is used by some people to slow hair loss." If you don't see any improvement after about a month, try nizoral instead.
I've never used T-Gel but with Nizoral, it was best to pre-wash your hair first, then shampoo just the scalp with nizoral and let it sit there for about 3 mins before rinsing. You were supposed to use it frequently for about the first two weeks, then gradually less. So check for the T-Gel.
I have heard that Dermarest also helps some people.
It's possible that the dry hair is also as a result of the thinning, especially since you are oiling regularly. Do try to use Meadowfoam Oil and Coconut Oil thought. Olive Oil isn't so easily absorbed.
Do try to do something about the PCOS and I'm sure a lot of your problems will sort themselves out.
