Dry fruits distribution after Nikah??

In Pakistan and i think in India also people distribute dry fruits (some call it Bidh) right after Nikkah. Can anyone tell why, is it done religiously or traditionally .

sugar and chhohaaraa [dry dates] are looted [traditionally] and it. in rural India, it's not neatly packaged...it's served in a huge round tray covered with red DupaTTaa and right ater the nikaah [outside (men's camp)] the sugar and chhohaaraa is looted by young kids and children...older folks are served one chhohaaraa :)

but why, i mean how this all started. Its kind of silly thing if you think about it, sweets (methaie) i understand but dry fruits and they are kind of must to distribute right after nikah i really dont get the concept. In one of my sister marriage, which was all planned by me, i dint included this and i was told by my relatives that i should make quick arrangements for that, i asked them to give sweet but they said “nahi patal yeh nikah k choharry hain” they should be dry fruit. since then it stayed in my mind, why why why and is this tradition followed in only India and Pakistan ???

as i said, traditionally, it’s looted after nikaah by dulha’s friends and young kids so miThaaii will not be a good idea because a lot will end up smooshed and will fall on to the ground…it’s a tradional thing…it has no religious value whatsoever…the only thing i can think of is that Khajoor has a special place in any Muslim Culture…since it’s sticky so it’s distribution will be difficult so they chose chhohaaraa instead…khajoor/chhohaaraa is a sunnat!

I'm not sure about dry fruits but dates are Sunnah. It probably stems from that - distributing something sweet (i.e. dates) after the Nikkah.

if i were the server, i’d make sure none of it reaches the dulha on the stage…maiN raste emn hii sab haRap kar jaauuNgaa
