I have extremely dry, brittle, limp hair. I believe it might be due to crash dieting which I did a while ago, but I am still losing lots of hair. The hair I do have on my head is extremely dry and damaged. I have tried various shampoos but with all of them the hair seems very thin and dead. A protein conditioner gives some texture to my hair, but there’s no shine. Can someone please suggest something to stop the hair loss and to reverse the hair damage that has actually worked for them. I don’t want to experiment more with my hair as I don’t have much left now.
Re: dry, brittle, limp hair
nutrition.....you will need to feed it from the inside out.
you might also try cutting it to get rid of as much of the damage as possible.....so go as short as you possibly can.
there are products that are available to address the lack of shine....use them until you grow back healthy hair.
Re: dry, brittle, limp hair
I have dry hair and I am alwaysssssssssss hunting for things that will add moisture to it.
Recently I tried something and I really like it so will probably continue to use it:
I took some fresh aloe vera gel (from the plant) and mixed it with avocado oil which is very moisturizing.
I put that as a mask in my hair overnight - not all over my head and not soaking wet. Just the ends and enough to feel like its in there.
Wonderful results the next day!!!
Once a week, I am doing the following for conditioning purposes:
One avocado
One egg
Aloe vera gel
Vitamin E oil
Banana
Mash it all up, coat your hair and wash after an hour or so...lovely!
Re: dry, brittle, limp hair

I tried avocado hair mask but I lost so much hair because once the avocado dried in my hair. It was so difficult to wash it out and I ended up losing more hair. Reha what shampoo do you use? I also have dandruff so I use head & shoulders which might be drying my hair out even more. But I've tried other shampoos, so far none has worked for me.

Can you suggest some of the foods I should be consuming. Also let me know the products to add shine, moisture, and life to my hair please.

When you use these natural masks...sometimes they do dry in your hair. The trick is to loosen up the hair in shower before washing. You take your shampoo and start to massage your hair, letting the mask melt a bit. This gets it ready for washing without breakage. When I do these masks, I use a real shampoo...like organix Moroccan oil or whatever is in the shower. Ordinarily, I have started to use home made shampoo.

you must go see a trichologist!
Re: dry, brittle, limp hair
I've cut my hair so many times. It doesn't help. The new hair that grows is also dry and dead. I been to the dermatologist. He told me to get some blood tests done which I already had. My thyroid and iron are in the normal range but the iron was in the lower normal range. Anyone knows any tips to stop the hairfall that has actually worked for them? Also I only want to try hair products which have worked for others.
Re: dry, brittle, limp hair
What were your iron levels?
