why and what can be done about that? Not dandruff.
Re: dry and itchy scalp
Irritation and stripping of natural oils due to the shampoo or any hair products being used on the scalp.
Quit using those and change to something different, tar based shampoos like Nutrogena, Polytar or Fongitar work best.
Re: dry and itchy scalp
Adra, my hair has become very dry and so has my scalp. Well it really doesn't itch a lot but feels so dry that I want to scratch it. I can't put oil so often because sometimes I can't wash it off if I'm in a hurry...so I do need to get some sort of deep conditioning or a better hair care product.
There is no flakiness or dandruff.
I started using Garnier upon someone's recommendation but that was not suitable, then I switched to this salon brand.
Re: dry and itchy scalp
For a fortnight quit using any sort of shampoo.
Go to the chemist and ask them for a tar based scalp cleanser.
If they try to sell Neutrogena to you, refuse to buy it, tell them you arent after a shampoo just a tar based cleanser.
Use it instead of your shampoo and see if it helps.
Re: dry and itchy scalp
Acha theek. I shall do that. Thank you.
Re: dry and itchy scalp
Do a research online on fongitar, polytar and Nizoral.
I'd recommend Fongitar as it has the highest percentage of the two ingredients Pyrithione Zinc and Polytar.
Pyrithione Zinc is antifungal and antibacterial agent commonly used to treat the itchiness, scaly scalp and dandruff and mild dermatitis
Re: dry and itchy scalp
Have you tried oiling your hair with olive oil? Try using pureology's moisturizing shampoo.
Re: dry and itchy scalp
Shay, I did find out that most stores here sell pureology and I am thinking of getting it per your reco. I think I will first try the tar stuff, then switch to Pureology.
Yes, oiling works good, but like I said that some days I'm rushing in the morning and don't get a chance to wash off...so I was looking for an alternative.
Re: dry and itchy scalp
Oh, in the rushing case, try and see if you can find ‘olive oil glossing cream’ at Sephora. You just massage in a lil bit after shower and your hair will stay sooo soft all day. It’s made out of pure olive oil.
