Re: Drumstick recipes please
CA, in the indian stores u get a packet of frozen drumsticks, i think they taste better than the canned ones. Swad or Ashoka brand.
This is a recipe for Aviyal, a simple dishs of stewed veggies in a coconut sauce
**Ingredients:
**A variety of vegetables (but not leafy veggies) such as potatoes, carrots, french beans, green banana, gourd (tuuri), drumstick, arvi.
1 heaped cup of fresh grated coconut (frozen packet by Swad will do)
Green chilies or dry red chillies (per taste).
Zeera (Cumin seeds), Haldi (Turmeric powder) and 1 sprig Karipatta (Curry leaves).
Plain yoghurt.
**Directions:
**Boil earthy veggies such as potato, carrots, green banana and arvi separately from the softer veggies like beans, gourd, etc. so that the softer veggies do not turn to mush. The earthy veggies should be peeled and chopped before cooking.
Drain the veggies retaining about a cup of the vegetable stock.
Grind together the coconut, a little zeera and chilies with as little water as possible to make a smooth paste.
Heat some oil (preferably coconut oil), add zeera, karipatta.
Add the drained veggies, stir fry.
Add coconut-chili paste and fry. Add a pinch of haldi.
Add some vegetable stock, cover and simmer for abt 20 mins.
Let it cool. Once cooled, add enough beaten yoghurt and stir well. The stew should not be too thick nor too watery.
Enjoy aviyal hot or cold with roti or zeera rice.
Re: Drumstick recipes please
Wow I've never heard of that before, what does it taste like? If you were to compare it to another vegtable?
