Drone Victims Visit United States

So, as expected, this didn’t get coverage from mainstream media… Funny enough, US embassy didn’t give visa to their lawyer… yet people wonder why so many people hate america in this part of the world…i wonder if we will have as many people showing sympathy and support for this family as they did for Malala??

Re: Drone Victims Visit United States

Why was the lawyer refused the visa?

Re: Drone Victims Visit United States

because he sued the CIA for drone attacks…he was allowed multiple visas in the past when he hadn’t sued…According to Reprieve, which has worked closely with some of the victims that are also his clients, Akbar traveled regularly to the US prior to 2011. It was only when he began representing victims of CIA drone strikes, they said, that the lawyer began having significant difficulty getting his U.S. visa processed. This current instance is the second time that the US has failed to grant Mr Akbar a visa to speak at a U.S. event.“Once again I find myself being denied entry to the U.S. This time to stop me talking to American lawmakers who have invited me to speak about what I have witnessed," said Akbar in a statement released through Reprieve’s press office. “I hope to tell them about the impact of drone strikes on civilians in Pakistan, and to shed light on the fact that rather than keeping the US safe, counter-terrorism policies like drone strikes are instead a threat to America’s national security.”“Failing to grant me a visa silences the 156 civilian drone strike victims and families that I represent," Akbar continued. "These families, who have lost children, parents, and siblings, are now trying through legal means to achieve justice. They have powerful stories to tell in their own voices, but will not travel without me, their legal representative.”

Re: Drone Victims Visit United States

Hmm this doesn’t really make sense because if the objective was to not let the stories of the drone victims get to the US then why invite the victims to tell the story themselves? But yeah the suing part probably explains it.

Re: Drone Victims Visit United States

Even though this is sad, this is just one family that got the media’s attention.
What about the other people that are affected? The “possible” 4000 people who were all a part of someone’s family? Where are their family members?

the other families are just numbers on socalled both sides which is only one side if you observe fairly. the side of mazloom vs the nexus of west and pakistan.

malala drama is just a propaganda piece which the looney liberals are cheering on with more drone strikes. they talk about the victims of the war but everyone knows these liberals only talk and dont care who dies.

Re: Drone Victims Visit United States

Janjuaaaa!! Where have you been?!?!

I dono if Malala is propaganda or not (because I don’t follow/ care), but what I do know, is there are plenty of people in this world who stand for something “big” and they all hardly ever get recognized until something bad happens to them. And there are just as many, if not more, people who go through tough times and never even get acknowledged.

It’s too bad that these types of things have to happen for these issues to be brought to the forefront let alone have to exist at all.

Re: Drone Victims Visit United States

The issue about this 13 year old boys medical expenses not being paid… Sure they can pay for his medical bills, but then everyone else who has been hurt in one way or another is going to come forward with the palms open looking for a hand out (I don’t mean that disrespectfully.) But it’s only fair. They pay for one kid’s treatment, they’re accountable for paying for everyone else’s. And we all know, we can afford to go to war and send drones and what not, but we’re too far in debt to be paying for little Paki kids who don’t mean anything to John and Mary Smith.

Re: Drone Victims Visit United States

If Malala was propaganda am sure she’d be highlighting something other than girls’ education lol.. How exactly is that going to harm Islam or Pakistan??

Quite strange how people see something sinister in something as simple as the promotion of girls’ education..

The drone victims were shown on the national news here in the UK.. they were not ignored by the mainstream media tho admittedly the public in general doesn’t seem as interested in that story and it isn’t talked about as much..

ITV News: Pakistani drone attack victims appear before Congress - ITV News

CNN: Drone victims speak out - CNN.com Video

The Guardian: Pakistani family of drone strike victim gives harrowing testimony to Congress | World news | theguardian.com

I could post a dozen more but this shouldn’t turn into some sort of competition between the drone strike victims and Malala to see who gets more publicity..

Re: Drone Victims Visit United States

Malala is an innocent girl being used by her beghairat father. she praises salman rushdie and insults zia ul haq as if she grew up in that era yet she didnt know where birmingham was? do u believe she wrote that book? what happened to the other kids that were with malala? what happens to those africans who get shot up just like this? they’re not deserving of nobel prize? can’t u see the big game being played?
