The US does not want Pakistan and the Taliban to talk. And they succeed every time.

Why should they talk and to what end?

The Taliban need to surrender their weapons, accept Pakistani constitution, or instead face the full wrath of the Pakistani Army.

Pakistan is not Afghanistan where the Taliban actually is an big piece of the Afghan Body Politik.
