ummm. Yes they were in Pakistan too. So many refugees came to Karachi and settled there during Afghan-Russia war. The pashtoon belt in KPK (NWFP) has families divided across the borders and travel from one side to the other has been a usual routine. There was no “real” checkpost at that border. In fact, there were no Pakistani military presence in that side of border until war on terror started.
