Actually, from what I have read, drones are fairly accurate & they don’t just go and attack any place for no reason at all. They’re usually watching what is going on the ground before taking out the target & vast majority of those killed are in fact militants. That is not to say there is no collateral damage, but drones are accurate to large degree in taking out terrorists.

ISLAMABAD – Pakistani factions are leading citizens to inaccurately believe American drone strikes within the country are killing more civilians than militants, according to an on-the-ground Associated Press investigation.

Pakistani right-wing political groups, clerics, and militants themselves have fueled the perception that drone attacks usually kill more civilians than fighters.

AP reporters spoke to about 80 villagers at sites in North Waziristan, a sanctuary for militants and the location of 10 recent attacks. The villagers told a reporter that of 194 casualties, at least 138 were militants.

While the villagers reported that 70 percent of casualties have been militants, the widespread perception of civilian deaths have fueled anti-American sentiment.

Well there is no proper documentation of the drone victims which fuels speculations, when ever a drone attack takes place we see tickers flashing on our tv screens 5 militants killed. Hardly ever do we come to know about their identities, if the government/military can establish within minutes that militants were killed how come they couldnt tell us accurately the identities of the people killed and the proportion of innocents versus militants?

If it is so effective why has the government not try to properly market it and own it and remove people’s confusion regarding them?
