Driving

How many of you are distracted drivers? Do you text while driving? Talk on the phone without using any hands-free device? Eat?

I admit I am guilty of texting while driving and making calls. However, I always use the speaker or bluetooth when talking.

Re: Driving

If I use the phone in the car, it would be when I’m waiting on a red traffic light or something like that. And even then only if it’s absolutely necessary. But actually touching the phone while driving? That’s not only endangering yourself but a lot of others too.

Re: Driving

Texting and driving is like playing with fire.

Re: Driving

I can barely text while walking, I can’t imagine doing it while driving a car. (hell I can’t imagine driving a car either :()

Re: Driving

The most i can do is drink a cup of tea while driving

Re: Driving

Terrible, terrible habit of checking phone while driving. I also eat and drink tea/water while driving. Trying to stop all of the above to a) keep car cleaner and b) make it home alive.

Re: Driving

I keep my phone in my purse and my purse in the back seat so there is no way i can grab it. I used to eat and drive while driving back from work and i hit the curb once while doing that so i stopped that as well. I am a good focused driver now.

Food…the root of all evil :hinna:

Re: Driving

Ahh women stay off the roads, :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Driving

i have a bad habit of texting while driving. I dont phone…well if its on the motorway then ill maybe put the car on cruise control and let it drive itself if the roads clear and make the occasional call

Re: Driving

Upside down priorities?

Re: Driving

Texting and driving appears to be popular among <30 yr Olds.

Re: Driving

I used to be so good the whole time had a BB. Ever since I got my S3, I have started texting while driving. I really need to stop. The idea about keeping the phone in the bag is good but I will be distracted the whole time thinking what if someone is calling me. SMH

Re: Driving

Yes. You really need to stop. Seriously. You are handling a a machine that can kill you and others. If the phone rings they will leave voice mail.

Re: Driving

How right you are! Better sort out my priorities…

Re: Driving

^ you know that was said in good humor, not meant to be vicious. Found it funny you rated clean car over life.

Re: Driving

Aww thanks. Don’t think you have a bad bone in your body to be vicious in the first place. I enjoy your posts and good humour (you’re a liberal through and through!) so no worries.

Re: Driving

Actually, I read about one study that found that middle aged people are more likely to text than teens. It’s just one study but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Re: Driving

Hated it when someone else would be texting while driving but I use do it occasionally. Then heard enough horror stories and got some sense to control myself from looking down and picking up the phone. Not worth it regardless of how good a driver you are or how impatient you are to read that unnecessary text from a friend.

Pull over or stop to text if it’s important.

-I still grab a snack sometimes while driving and working on that too.

Re: Driving

i HATE all of you distracted drivers. if you’re gonna get distracted by your phone or whatever then at least master the art of multi tasking.. :grumpy:

i have bad road rage. scrap that, i just have rage.
