I just got a speeding ticket in Texas. This is my first in last 8 years. My options to dismiss this ticket is to either take a driving safety course or request Deferred Disposition. Which one should I take and why?
I am new in Texas and not sure what are disadavntages of either one if any. Any texans here?
Re: Driving Safety Course or Deferred Disposition?
Hiya Asif,
My husband is a speed demon...so he has tons of experience in this matter... Thank god we finally moved from Texas!! Anyways, I asked him and he says that it would probably be better to take the driving course, that is what he used to do. The deferred disposition will be a sort of probation for a set period of time...usually 6 monthes...and if u get another ticket in that time...you have to pay both tickets.... Also to be able to eligible for the probation you have to have had no tickets in the last little while..
The course, yeah it costs a little, but it is definately less then the ticekt and it doesnt affect your record.... Kasim would take the course online rather then go to a classroom....and the TEST is really easy!!!
Re: Driving Safety Course or Deferred Disposition?
Thanks gummy. This really helped.
I thought that its a good thing to have two options to dismiss the ticket. I just moved from Michigan last year and there, if you get a ticket, you do not have any option and it always makes it to your driving history, unless you decide to fight and plea not guilty and then win.
