My husband is looking for a driving job but I dont know what categories he can apply for. What are the meanings of class 1 and class 2 etc. Where can I find out? Any suggestions?
Class 1 and 2 refer to the type of vehicles your husband can drive with such a licence. So for example you can not drive a trailer with a regular car licence. The best place to get information is the DMV in the state your husband is going to be registered. He can probably apply for all the categories but he would probably need to go through different driving tests for each one.
Once you put in your zip in that site, it will show you how the web site for your local area and you can read up on the requirements for the various categories of driver’s licence. Also you will have contact information for the DMV and you can either go there or call them and ask them questions.

The same applies in the UK too, Class 1 and Class 2 refers to the type of vehicle driven. You will most probably need to get a HGV license first though and that involves taking another driving test.
Contact the DVLA and they will point you in the right direction.
