Poor infrastructure for public transportation
Over consumption
Driving gas guzzlers
The NASCAR school of driving
Not using cloth bags
Wasting water
Buying bottled water
Not turning off lights devices etc When not in use
Mocking environmentalists - this can be a double edged sword. Free publicity helps.
Attitude - unnecessary cynicism and disdain for this cause.
I may be missing a few.

Excellent points from OP. I respectfully disagree with the simplistic approach of tagging capitalism onto everything that is environmentally damaging. But I do appreciate the opportunity to engage in a meaningful discussion.
Capitalism has its plus and minus points. It leads to innovation. Renewable energy generation is byproduct of capitalism. The Internet which OP is using? Ditto. The laptop or other electronic device OP is using? Ditto.
Modern day right wing conservatives have abused capitalism. Wars r fought to keep the defense industry profitable. Peace loving folks on the left fight tooth and nail against such policies.
Back on topic UNREGULATED capitalism is bad. Regulations ensure companies follow environmental ly sound policies. Unfortunately the EPA and other regulatory agencies have been weakened by policies from the Right. Mocking liberals as tree huggers and at the same time railing against Capitalism appears to be a strategy originating from - how do I put it - certainty not from the brain.
