I went to get my eyebrows done and the lady suggested that I should get a facial done since I had never gotten one. She was indian and suggested some shahnaz gold one so I said ok and right before she put the pack on my face (last step in the facial), I felt wax on my face. She had waxed the sides of my face and a lil bit of my cheek before I freaked out and told her to stop. She said it’s the daily routine that girls follow when they come for threading/waxing. I was so PISSED. She then proceeded to putting the face pack on me and soon after it was applied, my face started BURNING. I told her it was very uncomfortable and she said it was a normal thing to happen. It got so bad though that I just got up and washed my face. Soon after my skin was bright red and considering I have sensitive skin, I just decided to wait it out. Next morning when I woke up, my face was SWOLLEN twice the size as it is normally and my skin was DRY. I dont mean DRY, it was DRY DRY DRY!!! The entire face was ok EXCEPT the parts she had waxed that had turned BRIGHT red and was swollen and dry. It even hurt to talk, eat or laugh. By next day, it had started to peel, it was turning brown and it was basically ONE BIG MESS. After putting this prescribed cream on, the swelling and redness has finally gone after 3 weeks but the area is SO dry and flaky. The rest of my face is smooth and fine but the area that was waxed is itchy, flaky and driest you can ever imagine. I just don’t know what to do anymore. I have put olive oil, pure aloe vera, ten different moisturizers, rose water, you name it. I really want to know if anyone can help me. I am going to see my inlaws soon and I would hate to miss out on having a good time when my skin is a mess and itches all the time ![]()
Re: dried out skin patches from waxing/facial
Have u gone to a doctore...I guess u were allergic to any ingredient.Have u taken benadryl or any other anti allergy medicine. For the dry thing sounds to me eczema..which is sorta allergic reaction too.A hydrocortizone creme may help.also try to keep your skill hydrated and drink plenty of fluids and dont use a lot of soap.also cetaphil lotion helps a lot of nivea. Please seea doctor if u havent already
Re: dried out skin patches from waxing/facial
it seems like i have had a severe reaction to the whole waxing/facial because everyone said it's a big NO-NO- you should not get facial and waxing done together ever. Which soap/cleanser do you think i should use?
Re: dried out skin patches from waxing/facial
I have been doing it for sometime now but at saloon from where I get my stuff done, alway gives me a mini cool facial after the waxing. It prevents the skin from any wax from allergic reactions, etc.
You should always try using a soft soap after waxing. Anyhow, I don't I always use neutrogena face wash. This is what I use eveyday.
And yeah take an anti-allergic, it always helps.
Re: dried out skin patches from waxing/facial
Well if you look at my skin, it's going to look completely okay because the redness has gone thanks to that prescribed ointment. However, if you touch it, you can see how dry and flaky it is. Also, it feels SO dry and horrible, itches too :(
Re: dried out skin patches from waxing/facial
Apply face lotion regularly, it can be the weather factor too. Use Olay or some similar face lotion and get the one for dry skin. And use a soft soap.
Re: dried out skin patches from waxing/facial
gotta be careful when you go to these desi places, i usually go to this lady i've known for years who works out of her home, but when she was out of town i ended up going to a desi place for waxing, and i got the nastiest red rash and nasty lil bumps with itching all over my arms. It went away on its own after a week or so of applying lotions, but hey lesson learnt.
keep using that ointment/moisturizer... i hope it goes away soon.
