Dresses with yoke & a baggy frock

I dont know what they are called but ive seen this style dress on every wedding in lahore. Basically there is almost a 4-5 inch yolk (not a body cut) and then chuntain and a baggy flowy frock beneath. Only the upper yolk part is in fitting.

Any pictures?

More than i did ?

Well, basically there is kaam only on the upper part i.e. 4-5inches that looks more like a body cut, then some chuntain attaching that yolk to the lower flowy fabric. The lower part is like a baggy frock with no kaam mostly. I hope it helps now

What's a yolk?

***I think she means ‘yoke’. I’ll change the thread’s title.

Thanks SH! The last one is closest to that look; more of a pishwaz look but much more baggy

Re: Dresses with yoke & a baggy frock

Okay, so I think what you're thinking of is a peshwaaz.

My understanding is that a peshwaaz has gathers at the "yoke" (the empire waist part), whereas an anarkali lies flat and just has kaliyan.

Re: Dresses with yoke & a baggy frock

You're probably right about it. It is a pishwas but with yoke instead of body cut.

Re: Dresses with yoke & a baggy frock

i know what you are talking about but it isn't peshwas its some other cut/stitching style, pishwas has a shape where has this has no shape at all. prolly introduced by khadi i am not sure i do have some picture but lemme see it i can share em.

Re: Dresses with yoke & a baggy frock

I have a lawn shirt like that.... the yoke is tooo small (6"), has too many chuntain, lower part is too baggy and looks horrible. My advice would be to have a little longer yoke, lesser chuntain and not have it made so baggy.

Ps: perhpas this style doesn't compliment lawn fabric so much and might have looked better on some other fabric.
