G’day ladies and gents (although I have a feeling from the title may deter the male portion of the forums away)
Without going into too much boring detail and skipping right to the conclusion, I want to send something to someone (a lady) in Pakistan. I want it to be an item of clothing or shoes. Now I don’t think I’ll be venturing out and doing the shopping and its much easier to do it online. Plus with these forums I can get an opinion from some fine, beautiful, stylish people. (would you like some butter on that?)
I’m going to throw some links here for dresses. Unfortunately I am not intimate with details on how to throw up images within. These will be western dresses. I have seen Pakistani women give a bit of a desi twist to western dresses and I must say the result is spectacular (in most cases)
Could you wear these western dresses in a way that makes them “appropriate” for Pakistan? (without adding a BURKA to it)
If you could, how would you do it? (this is more of an opinion question)
The first one is quite cute, can't imagine that it would need that much altering to be honest. Maybe if the sleeves are too sheer, make them less so? Or otherwise make the dress a little longer?
^ I know skinny jeans would be fine in Pakistan, but I wonder about tights. I know tights are trendy these days, but I've seen tights in Pakistan worn with lambi kameezes and not with shorter, fitted dresses.

first one with slim jeans, but high heels are must
second one with long boots, preferably dark chocolate color
third one leggings + high heels
forth one i might go with pants, since there is already a belt there, otherwise if there is no belt, then get the belt similar color of the shoes.
as for whether we can wear em in Pakistan or not, i dont know...but sending it to pakistan is not really a good idea. its cheaper to get it custom made there...in fact in the same pricing u can get three dresses like these or better than these choices made over there.
Middle class - upper middle class. The lady who is to receive these is quite traditional - I've ever seen her/heard of her wearing shalwar kameez. Maybe a choori daar pyjama with a dupatta somehow? Or not really gonna go with this and I should re think what I plan on sending?
Don't send any of these dresses unless the lady is going to wear them with tights. And unless she goes to private parties where people are in western wear, I doubt she will.
Plus, I buy dresses from ASOS all the time, they don't all fit the same because of the different brands. Most stuff ends up getting sent back and now and again there will be something that looks good but also fits well.
Thank you all. Your advice and comments have helped. I don't think I will send one of these dresses. As much as I'd like for her to try these with tights or something, I have come to the conclusion she will not :( Oh well.
Your choices are great for here but for Pakistan ...................... really ..... go with some thing different. Believe me even if she is comfortable wearing it ........ she won't think it is extraordinary...... It is a different world there in terms of colors and designs. These look Paindoooo believe me .......... get something made for her from a pakistani designer...... So many out there who are giving western touch to a desi or vice versa.
Specially if you are saying she is traditional ...
I am trying to find some dresses for you ....... will post if i find any.
Handbag!!! Send a gorgeous handbag!!! Clothing sizes can be a hit or miss and sometimes a cut of a dress will work on one nody type and not the other.. So a nice handbag will brighten any womans day!!!
